SAN ANTONIO, TX – As the North American distributors for Capture Polar, Mega Systems Inc. announces two significant advancements in the software. Version 2.7 of Capture has been released, packed with improvements focused mainly on paperwork and documentation. And, a new Free Student Edition is now available.
Among the most outstanding changes in 2.7, are the new look of trusses in Paper mode and plots that can greatly improve readability, the ability to place and fine tune labels for trusses (or any object) and the ability to insert a “stand-alone” symbol into the drawing (a 2D symbol without any 3D object).
Another notable change is full support for CITP/FPTC-based patch exchange. While few controllers still support this at the moment, Capture is hoping that this will change soon.
There is also a long list of smaller features, such as the ability to automatically color fixtures in a plot by their filter, more information in reports, remembering fixture list column widths and plot duplication.
Some additonal recently added features, carrying forward from V 2.5, are the ability to visualize video and experience new ways of positioning materials. Capture Polar allows the user to create any number of “video players,” each containing a playlist of video files for playback, which can be hooked into materials as well as video projectors. Additonally, Capture Polar has added “map to extents” feature which enables applying a material to a collection of set pieces as if they were just one. Its easier than ever to edit the exact placement of any material so the user can easily reposition, rotate and stretch it into its correct place.
In addition to the new version, Capture has released a Student Edition. It is a limited but free package directed to lighting students. The Capture Polar Student Edition comes with limitations in paperwork functionality, library content and the number of universes available for visualization. All other features from the Basic Edition of Capture, including the rich number of console connectivity options and availability on both Windows and Mac OS X, have been retained. It is available for download on the lighting visualization page of the Mega Systems, Inc. website.
