GLP US’s Scenex Lighting brand has launched AirDMX, a new wireless DMX application that runs from a standard Apple iPad device. Running a single DMX universe, the AirDMX uses a standard Wi-Fi connection for data transfer.
More details from GLP (www.germanlightproducts.com):
The system promises to be simple to set up, highly affordable and great for small- to medium-sized applications that need user-friendly control.
The hardware for AirDMX consists of a single compact wireless DMX receiver that is mounted by the receiving fixtures. As it uses Wi-Fi, there’s no need for additional transmitter boxes or other hardware beyond the iPad user interface. The application software is then downloaded free of charge from the App Store to the user supplied iPad. The iPad can then connect over a standard Wi-Fi connection to the wireless receiver for full fixture control.
The AirDMX software is fully featured and comes complete with a wide range of existing fixture libraries to get you up and running quickly and easily – although you can build your own too, if needed. AirDMX can control moving lights, LED effects, dimmers and any other DMX controlled product.
With its graphical interface, the AirDMX system is easy to program and operate and includes a wide range of settings include full cue timing control, an easy to use color picker, up to 120 programmable cues, manual override of individual channels and master control for on the fly changes.
The AirDMX system is the perfect operating interface for smaller installations needing convenient hands on control through a familiar platform that can be used by both technical, and non-technical personnel. Now, all levels of staff including event organizers, wedding planners, musicians and more can all have simple control over a wireless DMX lighting system.
