FRANKFURT, Germany — Robe Lighting launched its Robin (Robe Innovative Concept) range of moving light products at Prolight+Sound Frankfurt. The first fixtures in the Robin series are the Robin 3 Plasma Spot, the Robin 300E Spot and the Robin 300E Wash. The fixtures in the line incorporate the new Lifi Plasma lamp and the Philips MSD Gold 300/2 MiniFastFit lamp. Robe is touting the Lifi Plasma lamp for its color rendering output and the punchy output of the Philips lamp, augmented by Robe’s Hot-or-Not-spot reflector, which allows remote hot-spot control.
The Robin 3 Plasma Spot’s features start with a light output of 18,000 Lumens, a color rendering index of 94, a flat and even light beam (1 : 1) and a lifespan rated at 10,000 hours. Robe gives the credit to the fixture’s plasma lamp light source.
Other features include a 20 percent to 100 percent dimming capability and a semi-hot re-strike facility of less than a 20th of a second for the full lamp brightness to be restored after shutting off. The fixture also offers optical efficiency at 54 percent and a lamp luminous flux of 22,000 Lumens, giving the fixture an output of 10,000 Lumens from a 266W light source.
The Robin 300E Spot has a series of custom-designed modular features including a 10° to 40° zoom, CMY+CTO, static and rotating gobo wheels, color wheel, frost, iris and more.
The company describes the 300E Spot as “neat, punchy profile fixture” with features including substantial linear zoom and dynamic hot-spot control, making it useful for a wide range of applications.
The 300E Spot comes with an assortment of rotating and static gobos plus full CMY+CTO. The color wheels have been developed to give a standard “building block” base for a variety of shows, and features like variable frost, linear iris, rotating prism and speedy mechanical shutters allow for fine-tuning.
Robe calls its Robin 300E Wash is a “flexible, lightweight, silent unit” with a wide zoom of 5° to 45°. Compact dimensions make it easier to conceal while providing pastel to saturated color wash effects.
Robe is also touting the fixture’s enhanced CMY+CTO system for its speed and accuracy in adjusting colors and the effects made possible with the unit’s 7+1 color wheel. The fixture also features a new remote hot-spot control, fast iris and beam angles ranging from 5° to 45°.
In Frankfurt, Robe was also calling attention to its new REDMix 2•188 Outdoor, which it calls “the most powerful outdoor LED fixture currently available,” with 188 High Power Luxeon K2 GBW LEDs. The LEDs are densely populated for bright light output, and convection cooling allows for silent operation. The fixture has an IP 65 rating and can be used for exterior installations. The combination of RGBW LED colors can be used for a quality of white light that Robe calls “pure and proper.”
