JOHANNESBURG — Robe DigitalSpot 5000 DTs were used to project images onto an elliptical set for the three-day annual conference of Avroy Shlain, South Africa’s leading direct-sell cosmetics house. The event was staged in the Pavilion at the Sandton Convention Centre and attended by 850 delegates. Three Robe DigitalSpot 5000 DTs were rigged on a front truss to emphasize the theme of “travel through the ages.” They were run via the grandMA lighting console operated by Francois van der Merwe, who also designed the lighting.
Each session of the presentation welcomed guests to a particular time period, ranging from the 1960s to today. Randburg-based MJ Event Gear supplied all equipment and technical production for the conference.
Van der Merwe masked the second layer of the DigitalSpots so the images fitted the oval shape of the back of the set, and used a Maxedia digital media server to send pictures to the first layer.
“With each session having a different theme, using the DigitalSpots gave us huge flexibility to display a range of pictures from the relevant eras,” said Van der Merwe, adding that the overall effect really impressed his client.
