DONETSK, Ukraine — Lighting supplier Cortmi Ltd. is using architectural lighting fixtures from China-based PR Lighting to wash landmark buildings in this eastern Ukraine urban center in bright colors, including a permanent installation for the Akula business center and the temporary wash for a residence constructed by Donbass Investment and Construction Co. Ltd. (DISC). Cortmi’s project department, led by Viktor Markov, recommended the PR Lighting fixtures based on their cost/performance ratio to fulfill the design of LD Alexander Kirichok. The Akula installation uses eight Century Spot 2500s and eight Century Colour 2500s. The DISC dwelling installation uses four Century Spot 2500s.
“The lighting designer wanted to emphasize the high class of the buildings, make them more attractive for new business, and to create a positive image to attract potential customers,” said Cortmi’s marketing manager, Stanislav Serbin. “This challenge was comfortably met by the Century range.”
The Century Colour instruments are IP-rated and use an MSA 2500 DE lamp rated at 2000 hours, with a CYM color-changer system. The Century Spot is a CYM spot projector for static architectural use. It also features an optic system designed for efficiency and a color changer to allow for a wide array of colors.
Both instruments are controlled by the DMX-Interface LightConverse Replay, designed and manufactured in Ukraine. “Since these are color-changing installations, all the scenes are programmed and saved in the USB Interface, which works in stand-alone mode,” Serbin said. “The architectural lighting systems are switched off during the daytime and automatically come on after dark.”
