PARIS — Traditional pipe and drape may not have gone the way of the horse and buggy yet, but LED displays with video graphics are becoming increasingly dominant in the trade show world. Barco reports that for this year’s Mondial de Automobile in Paris, its LED displays are used on over 70 percent of the booths at the show. Held at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, the Mondial de Automobile is a showcase for over 500 international brands involved in the European automotive industry. This year, the show marked its 110th anniversary and hosted over 90 world premières. It started Oct. 4 and will run through Oct. 19.
Barco notes that its LED displays have featured on many of the world’s leading auto manufacturers’ booths in the last decade, at shows staged in Paris, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Detroit and other locales.
At this year’s show in Paris, auto manufacturers including Alfa Romeo, Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Citroën, Chrysler, Fiat, Ford, Honda, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Lancia, Mazda, Mini, Mitsubishi, Peugeot, Renault, Seat, Skoda, Suzuki, Toyota and VW have selected Barco’s LED solutions as a major part of their booth design.
A key trend this year, Barco notes, is the use of its new black LED displays, the NX-4 and NX-6.
“Alongside the trend to black, creative use of LED at auto shows also continues as dominant trend,” said Andrew Healey, global marketing manager for Barco’s Live Events business. “Instead of using LED in the classic “4 by 3” aspect ratio, many manufacturers are artfully integrating LED into the structure of their booths, blurring the lines between video, lighting and architecture and giving the visitor an experience that sets the brand apart.”
Barco LED display solutions were also represented at this year’s show via some of Barco’s rental partners, including Avega, AVS, Creative Technology, Gahrens + Batterman, ICT, NAT, Procon, Showworkx, Utram, VPS, Winkler, and XL Video.
“Our worldwide network of rental partners has delivered a total of over 1600 square meters of equipment to this year’s show in Paris,” said Healey. “With a strong belief in our ‘technology enabled, market driven’ approach, we provided on-site support to our rental partners throughout the critical build-up phase of the show.”
