BEIJING, China — Organizers of the Palm Expo, an annual exhibition devoted to lighting, pro audio and musical instruments, noted that its most recent show, staged at the New China International Exhibition Centre (NCIEC) May 24-27, was among the largest yet, with more than 1,700 exhibiting companies and brands from 35 countries in 10 halls occupying a total 110,000 square meters of floorspace. Nearly 50,000 attended the event, which is jointly organized by China Entertainment Technology Association, IIR Exhibitions and China Technology Market Management & Promotion Centre.

On display were lighting fixtures, audio gear, DJ equipment, musical instruments, staging and touring equipment and systems, AV products and more. Major brands included Audio-Technica, Avolites, Beyerdynamic, Celestion, Clay Paky, dB Technologies, d&b Audiotechnik, ETC, High End Systems, JBL/Harman, K.M.E., L-Acoustics, MA Lighting, Martin Audio, Meyer Sound, NEXO/Yamaha, Peavey, Philips Lighting, Pioneer, Robe, Sennheiser, Shure, TOA and Turbosound.
Show Highlights
Palm Expo hosted a number of conferences, seminars and activities during the show days. The 10th China International Entertainment Technology Summit: Held at the Jiuhua Resort & Convention Centre, this year’s entertainment technology summit focused on performance venue construction trends in China, the U.S. and Europe.
Well-known speakers and presenters arriving from Germany, The Netherlands, the U.K., the U.S. and elsewhere in China included Yu Jian, vice president of CETA; Louis Janssen, chairman of OISTAT; Joerg Kuemmel, CEO of Mueller-BBM; Joshua Dachs, president of Fisher Dachs Associates and David Grindle, executive director of USITT.
Technical Seminars: More than 40 technical seminars were held. Florian von Hofen, a consultant with VPLT from Germany, spoke on Equipment Hoisting and Safety Regulations for Entertainment Venues. Gabriele Högg, vice chairman of DTHG, spoke on the development trends and future of stage settings.
