LONDON — Baz Halpin, LD for the current tour for Queen + Paul Rodgers, was looking to create a “good, old-fashioned rock ‘n’ roll lighting show,” but with the kind of consistency in color that wasn’t always available with the monster rigs of yesteryear. He opted to include 80 Coemar Infinity Wash XL lights to meet the challenge. “Movement speed and consistency in dimming and color was important,” he said, “as we used a lot of single color washes. When you have 80 lights on in the same color, one bad light spoils the look. The Infinitys gave me exactly what I needed.”
Infinity Wash XL lights come with a CMY-S color mixing system with new saturation mode, black out, dimming, electronic strobo zap and synchronized or random strobe effects. Moon Flower and Beam’o effects are also included.
Halpin called the Infinity Wash XLs “the workhorses of the rig. I tend to build the majority of my looks from the Infinitys and start to layer other fixtures over them,” he said. “I find I never have to compromise on the look I am going for due to a failure in the fixture. I really like them a lot.”
