SYRACUSE, NY— J. R. Clancy announced that its PowerLift automated theatre hoist will now carry the CE Mark, signifying that the product officially meets the CE Mark directives for safety as required by 30 countries in the European Union (EU), making it eligible for sale within the EU and the European Free Trade Area. “This is an important step forward, and an illustration of our commitment to product safety in every country in the world,” said Tom Young, J. R. Clancy’s vice president of marketing. “By complying with the most rigorous standards in the industry, we’re not only opening the European market to our most popular automated rigging product, but we are also helping to reduce the risks backstage.”
To be allowed to use the CE mark, the product must undergo extensive testing: normal operation tests, a strength test, grounding, starting current, temperature, power failure and short-circuit testing, among others.
“Like the ISO 9001 certification of our Quality Management System, the UL list of control systems, and the ETL listing that PowerLifts earned in the US, the CE Mark is a way that we can help our customers get the best products,” Young said. “Working to achieve international quality and safety certifications shows our customers that we care about their health and safety, and we’re willing to put our products on the line to prove it.”
