COLOMBO, Sri Lanka —MOS Sound & Light recently provided full production services for a major concert by Greek composer/keyboardist Yanni. The lighting plot from LD Bud Horowitz called for a different brand of lighting fixture, but since those fixtures were not available for the show, MOS provided both the Spot and Wash versions of PR Lighting’s XL 1200 fixture. They proved to be an acceptable substitute.

MOS Turns to PR Lighting XL 1200s for Yanni’s Colombo Concert
As Sri Lanka’s premier sound and lighting provider MOS Sound & Light recently provided full production services for a major concert by Greek composer/keyboardist Yanni — using fixtures from their PR Lighting inventory to create stage dynamics.
Founded 18 years ago, the company started purchasing from the Chinese manufacturer five years ago. “We liked the quality and price of the products, with features similar to the top European brands,” said MOS director, Hussain Faizal. “We always receive great after sales service and a quick response to any questions.”
The company was contracted by event management companies, AKG Events and Amuseum Special Events, in addition to Wizcraft Colombo. They were tasked with providing a technical infrastructure (including rigging) for the 4000 fans who attended the Yanni show at Sugadathasa Indoor Stadium. They were able to dip heavily into a PR Lighting inventory that now includes 28 XL 1200 Spot, 12 XL 1200 Wash, five Mega Colour search light and eight Century Colour 2500.
Lighting designer Bud Horowitz, who also controlled the lighting for the concert, was assisted by Hussain Faizal..
Large quantities of the XL Wash and XL Spot were selected, and these were distributed on the overhead truss — at back, Centre and right of the stage, as well as using further heads for floor effects (left and right) — with infills from the truss bar.
The show was highlighted by a cornucopia of colour cues — Blue, Red, Amber and Magenta — to highlight the artist.
“We recommended the PR Lighting pieces because of their excellent feature-set,” said Faizal Hussain.
Reviewing the event afterwards, he said, “The show was amazing, and enjoyed by all the audience. The quality of the lighting production was excellent reaching the highest international standards. Overall it was a great success.”
The local press also provided extensive coverage, praising the excellent standard of production.
