ZEIST, The Netherlands — The Figi Hotel is using Anolis LED fixtures as a practical lighting solution for six multi-functional rooms, three conference rooms, the hotel’s restaurant and the separate espresso bar. The hotel’s management approached Arnhem-based lighting supplier Relight when they wanted a change of lights for the six multifunctional rooms that double as bedrooms and conference suites with the aid of a movable partition, foldaway beds, electric roll-down screen and beamers. Relight consulted Anolis distributor Controllux, and Andras Pollé helped specify the fixtures and offer advice on how to design the installation to maximize the desired effect. The quality of light output by the SmartWhite fixtures, compatibility with Dynalite controls and reliability were all factors in giving Anolis the nod.
Each room features six Anolis ArcSource 12/K2 SmartWhites used for general mid room downlighting, installed in a false ceiling panel. With the ArcLink 3 CoolWhite, Amber and WarmWhites mounted in the wall uplighters, they can be adjusted from bedroom to boardroom, with ambient contrasts that can be made with the push of a button.
The fixtures amalgamate industry standard AR1-11 size fittings with a mix of warm white and cold white Luxeon LEDs. Using Dynalite control, a range of variable color temperature whites can be achieved. The Dynalite controllers also control, sound, electric curtains and video screens.
By the beds are ArcSource 3/K2 WarmWhite units, giving an understated illumination of the bedside drawer units. Above the left hand side of the beds, more Anolis ArcSource 3/K2 WarmWhites are inserted into a small opening in the ceiling and function as reading lights,
Eighteen color-changing ArcLink RGBW strips are situated around the edges of the false ceilings in each room. As with all lights in the room, they are controlled by a wall-mounted Dynalite touch panel. The hotel chose three color scenes — white, a pale orange and a pale green — which are programmed into the controller to allow for alternative hues.
In the shower area of each room’s bathroom, two opaque frosted glass tiles are backlit with ArcLink RGBW strips, turning the shower into a colored door. That helps keep the bathroom looking like a toilet-only space in conference mode. There are also ArcSource 3/K2 Warm and Cool Whites ensconced in the bathroom ceilings.
In addition to the multi-purpose rooms, two conference rooms on the second floor of the Figi hotel are fitted with Anolis SmartWhites, allowing these rooms to be lit for conference and meetings with the cooler end of the white spectrum, or for dinners and receptions with the WarmWhites, which also work well when combined with candlelight sources.
