DUNKERQUE, France — A waste disposal plant may seem an unlikely candidate for urban beautification, but that didn’t stop the Dunkerque City Council in France from specifying an architectural lighting installation for the Dunkerque Littoral Pole de Valorisation des Dechets. They approached SET Space Tertiaire with their ideas for the project, which incorporated LEDs supplied Anolis’s French distributor Ambiance Lumière.
A total of 17 Anolis ArcLine Outdoor Optic 36 strips are fitted to the side of the building that faces the A16 Dunkerque to Paris highway. The fixtures are arranged in two rows to maximize coverage on the plant’s 37-meter-high façade, transforming its slab-like appearance from gray to a variety of changing colors.
Anolis ArcPower 72 drivers power the LEDs, with the changing colors controlled via a pre-programmed Sunlight Easy Stand Alone controller. The ArcLine Outdoor Optic 36 incorporate 36 energy-efficient Luxeon K2 LEDs. The fixtures are convection cooled and housed in an aluminum extrusion for all-weather, IP 65-rated performance.
“Everyone is really happy with the results and Anolis once again has proved ideal for a challenging situation and made the building much more attractive,” says Ambiance Lumière’s Patrice Vandenbussche of the installation, which has become a talking point among the locals and others driving past.
