GREEN BAY, WI — With a name synonymous with dignity — most of the time, anyway — the Oval Office doesn’t appear to be content with being known as just another strip joint for cheeseheads. The 15,000 square-foot gentlemen’s club is also seeking a “no expense spared” look with Robe moving lights and Anolis LEDs supplied by Sound Stage Systems. Karl Kieslich from Sound Stage Systems collaborated with David Chesal from Robe Lighting Inc. on the venue’s lighting design, which combines color-changing washes throughout the space with special effects on the stage and dancing areas.
Upon entering the club, patrons see a large custom built mahogany bar, with three VIP private rooms for those seeking a little more privacy. The main showroom space has a large stage with seating around the edge to get up close to the dancers, plus six private dancer booths. The Lounge ceiling features six large tray-ceiling areas, each washed with Anolis ArcLink 3 RGB fixtures, adding depth and color to the space.
The main stage features eight Robe ClubScan 250s, four on each side. In between, there are nine Anolis ArcPar 12s. Four Robe ClubRollers provide lighting effects from the back wall of the main stage, and five ColorSpot 575E AT moving lights are mounted in the ceiling set back from the front of the stage. There is also a ColorWash 575E AT Zoom for the center stage wash. Two ColorSpot 170s and four ArcPar 12s wash a second smaller stage.
The “Showroom main floor” is a two-story area that houses the main stage and general seating, providing an aura of perspective without abandoning a sense of intimacy. For this area, Chesal again specified Anolis ArcLink 3 RGB fixtures to wash the walls with color. On the second floor, 25 ArcSource 12 RGBs are installed for ceiling lighting, allowing for color contrasts between the two levels.
A LightJockey DMX control system and Touchscreen monitors control the interior lighting. There are an additional 79 ArcSource 1 Warm White used to uplight the building’s exterior.
Sound Stage Systems said they use Robe and Anolis brands for 90 percent of their installations. “Robe fixtures are extremely reliable, they have a smooth output and operation,” said Karl Keislich. He added that Anolis combines rich color output with a compact package, with long operating life and low power and maintenance requirements as a bonus. “Great fixtures along with factory support make it a smooth installation process,” he said.
