PITTSBURGH, PA — Holo-Walls, manufacturers of holographic films and special effects products for the entertainment industry, produced a Liquid Fusion stage floor system with backlit floor tiles for Cheerleaders, a gentlemen’s club. The “Liquid Fusion” stage floor is made with a series of tiles encased with two contrasting-colored liquids — in this case, black and yellow, matching team colors for the Steelers and Penguins. As the dancers move across the stage floor, the encased liquids move and swirl around their feet.
Holo-Walls also designed several custom back-lit floor tiles using the club’s “C” monogram and “Cheerleaders” brand name, laser cut from a translucent metallic gold film with gloss black masking and face mounted to an abrasion-resistant polycarbonate material.
Tiles were designed into the stage floor surface and then backlit utilizing “flat light” technology by Cee-Lite. These allow the images to strobe, cross-fade and flash with a controller installed in the DJ booth.
“This is one of the most complex floors we have ever created,” said Kevin McCarthy, president of Holo-Walls. “To create custom illuminated floor graphics for an application like this, by far the Cee Lite product is the way to go,” he added, noting its ability to create lighting effects with a thickness of only .06 inches.
The club and overall stage design was spearheaded by club designer Rick Uzubell of Cabaret Design Group in Hammond, Ind.
John Meehan, co-owner of Cheerleaders, spoke highly of the “soft glowing effect across the surface of the stage,” and noted that his company will be incorporating the floor effects into the next club that they open.
