WINTER PARK, FL — Full Sail University marked 10 years since its Show Production & Touring degree program was launched in 1998. The 13-month degree program gives students hands-on experience learning about and working in the areas of live sound, video, and lighting design.
The school’s goal is to provide students with a realistic work setting, under the tutelage of industry professionals, using a wide assortment of gear. Since its founding, more than 100 graduates have worked on more than 100 tours and events.
The program, based on Full Sail’s 190-acre campus, includes Full Sail Live, a learning environment equipped with the same gear that is installed in live venues around the world.
“Being well versed in the theories and principles behind the components of a live experience is what sets Full Sail’s program apart,” said Dana Roun, Director of Audio Programs.
With over 30 years of professional experience in show production and touring, including tours for headliners like Bon Jovi, Roun said the school’s core principles have held steady amid change. “Technology may change, but Full Sail’s innovative program and the consistent approach of our experienced instructors ensures the success of our students,” Roun said.
Graduates of the Show Production & Touring degree program have worked in sports broadcasting, live concerts and touring, corporate productions, conventions and various forms of live entertainment productions including theme parks, houses of worship and cruise ships.
“Having a program as unique as Show Production & Touring enhances the curriculum that we are proud to offer at Full Sail University,” said Roun. “We look forward to providing passionate students with the knowledge to become working professionals in this field for several more decades to come.”
