ORLANDO — Elation Professional said that it is now accepting entries for its fourth annual Elation Education Experience (E3) contest. The contest offers young lighting professionals and House of Worship volunteers a chance to win a trip to the LDI Show, Nov. 19-22, 2009 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. Created in 2006 to encourage more young lighting designers and students to consider specializing in the House of Worship (HOW) market, the E3 contest is open to lighting students, lighting designers with less than three years’ experience and volunteer or part-time workers in a HOW lighting department.
Interested applicants need to complete an online form, submit a light plot for lighting a stage for a 3-camera shot application at a house of worship and describe what they want to accomplish with their installation.
The online form may be accessed at http://www.fucinipro.com/elation/E3_contest.html
Once the entry form is accepted, applicants will receive a CAD file of the church stage with an inventory of the actual products that are to be used. The light plot can be done by hand or a CAD file in PDF. The church stage is based on a recently completed project by the lighting designer who will be judging the contest.
The contest is open to all residents of North America who meet the eligibility requirements. All entries must be received by 5 PM Pacific time Oct. 2. There will be up to three winners, and they will be notified by Oct. 16.
“The HOW market is very important to the lighting profession, and it offers great opportunities for young professionals to immerse themselves in meaningful and challenging projects,” said Eric Loader, director of sales for Elation Professional and Acclaim Lighting. “Elation believes strongly in the future of the HOW market and through the sponsorship of this contest, Elation and its sister company Acclaim Lighting are supporting its continued growth.”
The prize package includes round trip air fare, hotel, transportation to and from the airport, meals and $100 spending money. Winners will also get a chance to mingle with lighting designers and executives from Elation Professional.
