NASHVILLE – Chevelle recently wrapped their 2021 fall tour in support of its ninth album, “Niratias,” with a lighting system provided by Bandit Lites and designed by Robb Jibson of So Midwest, Inc. Called one of their most provocative records to date, Chevelle recorded throughout 2019 and 2020 and produced an unmatched piece of art.

Bandit Lites supplied a lighting package for the fall tour, including the Ayrton Khamsin, to supplement Chevelle’s lighting system which consisted of Chauvet Rogue R1 Wash and COLORdash Batten-Quad 6 units. Lighting director Nikki Dotson called the Khamsin the workhorse of the floor package, noting how the versatile and compact fixture interacted with pieces of the set.

“One moment of the show that comes to mind is on a specific hit [when] the Khamsin reflects on our mirror set pieces upstage, which causes the band to be washed out with a backlit inverted beam,” he said.

“Nikki has a great touch as the board op in using Robb’s design to its fullest,” said Bandit Lites Business Development Officer Brent Barrett. “I was fortunate enough to attend a show and it looked great.”

Dotson was joined on the road with Josh Gordon, who provided exceptional support from load-in to load-out.

“Josh is great to work with; he was always on top of everything we needed,” said Dotson. “Even on the harder days, if there really were any, I thought we worked great together. He was truly my biggest supporter out on the road, and at the end of the day, that’s something that means a lot when you are out there.”

“The entire team and atmosphere of the tour is incredibly impressive,” said Barrett. “Chevelle has been for many years and continues to be a very treasured member of the Bandit Family. We appreciate the opportunity to provide lighting services for this band as well as to experience the visual element that Robb creates for each tour!”

“Bandit was always there,” Dotson added. “They supported me going out on it fully. If we needed something from the shop, they made everything accessible, so we didn’t have any issues.
