ST. LOUIS — Chauvet Professional COLORado fixtures colored a dramatic rainbow on the Civil Courts Building for a PrideFest initiative in downtown St. Louis. Ironman Sound Industries specified 36 COLORado 4 IP wash battens and 24 COLORado 1 Tour PAR-style wash fixtures for the project. They were used for saturated color uplighting on the upper portion of the building.

“We used 36 COLORado 4 IP luminaires to light up the outward face of each of the columns that wrap the building,” said Stace Napper with Ironman Sound Industries.
“The columns are about 40 feet tall, plus our mounting position was an additional 15 feet below them for a total throw of over 55 feet! The mounting position was a small ledge, only about 2 feet deep; but thanks to the slim profile of the COLORado 4 IP we were able to mount each light to the buildings existing lighting hardware, which also ensured proper alignment. The ability to have just one light on each column with the output to make such a large area ‘pop’ with strong, saturated color was important and the COLORado 4 IP outperformed our expectations.”
COLORado 4 IP is an outdoor rated, linear wash light that features four 40-watt quad-colored RGBW LEDs. The incorporation of white LEDs widens the color palette, while 15-degree lenses produce a powerful punch of homogenized color. Individual pixel programming enhances the visual impact. A removable yoke doubles as a mounting bracket for stacking an array of up to four units that maintain a perfect pixel pitch.
“On the top floor we had an additional of 24 COLORado 1 Tour for nicely highlighting an inset wall,” Napper said. “There was a large enough balcony under it for us to keep the lights on base plates and put them where we needed.”
