Big Effects for Lil Wayne’s “I Am Music” Tour

LAS VEGAS — Lil Wayne’s I Am Music world tour is getting some big effects from Pyrotek Special Effects Inc. Lorenzo Cornacchia, vice president of Pyrotek Special Effects, worked with Daunte Kenner, production designer, and Maceo Price, production manager to integrate a series of effects for the tour. Cornacchia was introduced to Kenner during the 2007 BET awards, where Cornacchia designed a barrage of custom flame effects, including a flaming microphone stand for Lil Wayne’s performance of “Gossip.”

Cornacchia, who has since worked on numerous occasions with Kenner, calls him “innovative” and able to bring “fresh ideas to the table.” One of the custom effects for the Lil Wayne tour resembles a gatling gun, which acts as a flamethrower, shooting an explosive blaze of fire from the center of the mid stage.

A total of 22 CO2 cryogenic systems were also designed to fill the stage during Wayne’s closing act, “A Milli.”

Gary Bishop and Tristan Ford are the gas technicians and shooters for the tour.
