NEW YORK — Bandit Lites provided lighting for NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series, and LD Mark Carver helped put Jimmie Johnson center stage as the second driver in the sport’s history to win three consecutive Cup Series championships. The event also helped NASCAR celebrate 60 years of racing. The ceremony, held at the Waldorf-Astoria’s grand ballroom, was also attended by other top drivers from the 2008 season, plus Cale Yarborough, the first driver to win three consecutive titles (1976-1978) and seven-time NASCAR champ Richard Petty. The evening also featured appearances by actor Kevin Costner, comedian John Pinette and rock band Matchbox Twenty.

Bandit Lites’ gear list included Vari*Lite 3000 Spots, Martin MAC 250s and 600s, PixelRange Pixelines, PAR 64s, Lycian M2 Spots, and ETC Source Fours.  Two grandMA consoles and NSPs controlled the lighting.

Co-production manager Steve Hoover noted that the Vari*Lites, MAC 600s and PixelLines played key roles during the event. The Vari*Lites painted the ceiling, the MAC 600s served as a base color wash for the set and the PixelLines added an extra dimension of versatility to the set’s visuals.

“This event continues to be a family reunion for all of us,” said Hoover.  “I really can’t say enough about Paul and Adam and all our good friends from Local 1, everyone at the Waldorf, Mark Carver, programmer Gary Radakovich and the entire production team.”

“Bandit Lites is very thankful and proud of this yearly opportunity to work with all the folks at NASCAR, co-production manager Mike D’Alioi, plus Jon Kallas and the entire Communicore team on this very prestigious NASCAR event,” added Brent Barrett, Bandit’s business development officer.
