NEW YORK – Metropolitan Pavilion celebrated its newly renovated event space on January 22 with an evening of food, fun and innovative technology demos attended by more than 500 industry professionals.  WorldStage is the exclusive provider of audio, video, lighting and rigging for the Metropolitan Pavilion and Metropolitan West event venues.

More details from WorldStage (www.worldstage.com):

“The relationship between an event venue and entertainment technology provider has to be strongly collaborative and involve innovation, and that was exactly what the January event showcased,” says Scott Isebrand, Chief Operating Officer for Metropolitan Pavilion and Metropolitan West.

“This year WorldStage marks the fifteenth anniversary of our relationship with Metropolitan Pavilion,” notes Frank Mejia, Senior Account Executive at WorldStage Venue Services. “We’re very proud of this association, and we continue to make technology investments at the venue, which enable us to offer turnkey solutions and ensure that every event is as successful as possible.”

Metropolitan Pavilion renovated its space with 22,000 square feet of American white oak flooring, 160 feet of elegant sheer drape, 60 square feet of white stone counters in the lobby, and chocolate and gray velour draping for sound absorption and soft textural highlights.

WorldStage added a number of permanent installs to enhance the space and provide exceptional value and more efficient AV solutions for each and every event.

WorldStage installed more than 60 Astera AX5 LED lighting fixtures to dramatically downlight the historic cast-iron Corinthian columns original to the 1896 loft’s interior. “Astera offers exceptional light output and offer full RGBAW color mixing in a compact unit,” Mejia reports. WorldStage also invested in an ETC ION XE-2K lighting console with the Eos 40 Fader Wing.

Four Da-Lite 12 x 7-foot roll-down projection screens were added, two along the north pavilion wall and two along the south.  “They are positioned where we often set up temporary screens, so the new roll-down screens will now reduce set up time,” says Mejia.  Four Epson Pro 15,000-lumen 3LCD laser projectors were permanently hung per screen location.

New 43-inch LED TV/monitors were installed at the second, fourth and fifth floor entrance lobbies for customizable signage, video greetings and more options via a local media player.

WorldStage augmented Yamaha passive speakers at the top of the loft’s columns with Yamaha DSR112 speakers for a fuller, richer sound.  The additions eliminate the need to truck in speakers to support larger corporate events and parties.

In addition, WorldStage enhanced the in-house inventory it maintains at Metropolitan Pavilion with a Roland multi-format switcher, Behringer compact digital mixers, Shure digital wireless systems and more Yahama DSR112 speakers with speaker stands.

Party guests were treated to two innovative WorldStage technology demos: the i5FLOOR interactive LED floor and c3ONE custom-designed LED tiles.  The products were recently showcased at WorldStage NEXT events in New York City and San Francisco.

At Metropolitan Pavilion the i5FLOOR featured new game and branded content while the right-angle dimensional c3ONE tiles configuration proved to be a popular photo op for guests. “The evening gave us a chance to show some different options to event and party planners,” says Shelly Sabel, WorldStage Director of Design.  “The new technology demos served as a springboard for conversations about potential applications for these new products.”

The gala evening featured Earth Day Network and included other Metropolitan Pavilion vendor partners. Alan Boss is the President of Metropolitan Pavilion, David Carey is Vice President of Operations and Shelly Taggar Vice President of Sales and Creative Services.
