LIVERPOOL, N.Y.— Just as many companies and professionals in our industry are taking to online platforms to provide educational opportunities during this unprecedented time, USITT will soon be joining this valuable trend. Our 60th Anniversary Conference & Stage Expo was slated to begin yesterday, April 1, 2020. Due to the global spread of COVID-19, USITT made the difficult decision to cancel the event, but fortunately, a portion of the Institute’s educational offerings will find new life online.
More details from USITT (www.usitt.org):
Beginning Monday, April 6, USITT will be offering free weekly online learning sessions in the form of two different segments titled “New @ Noon” and “Forum @ Four.” These sessions will take place Monday through Thursday at noon and at 4 p.m. EDT, respectively, via the popular online conference application, Zoom.
New @ Noon
This series will emulate our popular New Products Showcase. Companies who were set to exhibit their latest tech will now take the virtual stage to explain what the product is and answer questions that participants may have. These webinars will be streamed live on Zoom, as well as on USITT’s Facebook page and are open to both USITT members and non-members. Click here for the full schedule and registration.
Forum @ Four
This series takes a curated selection of sessions and translates them to a virtual environment. These webinars are brought to you by various USITT commissions and industry experts and are open to both USITT members and non-members. Click here for the full schedule and registration.
“I’m thankful to our all of our presenters for helping us bring education online during this time when we are not able to come together for learning,” said USITT Executive Director, David Grindle. “With our industry particularly hit hard by this pandemic and the measures necessary to curb it, being able to come together virtually and maintain a connection with people is important.”
Though we cannot exactly replicate Conference or its sessions, and we won’t pretend to, we are proud to be bringing high-quality learning opportunities through educational, exhibitor, and new product-focused online sessions.
“Maintaining and growing our skill set in this time is important so that people keep a connection to their work and are ready when the time comes that we can return,” Grindle said. “We hope that over the course of the coming weeks people find something to attend that is helpful to them and offers the needed connection to others and the industry.”
