The ProProduction Sessions at NAMM presented by PLSN & FOH is excited to announce that the design team and some of the vendors of Metallica’s M72 Tour will be joining us for Inside the Snake Pit: The Creative Team Behind Metallica’s Tour Designs. The panel speakers will be Creative Director/Production Designer Dan Braun, Lighting Designer Rob Koenig, & Video Director/Designer Gene McAuliffe, along with David Hunkins from 4Wall, and panelists from Tait and PGP joining moderator Michael Eddy. This session will be on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024 at 1:00pm – 2:00pm in Room 204A at the Anaheim Convention Center as part of the NAMM Show.
This session covers the design and production technology on Metallica’s M72 Tour, which is in support of their newest album, 72 Seasons. Performing two-night, no-repeat shows at each stop of the tour on a truly massive ring shaped stage—with the band’s legendary Snake Pit in the center—the group is redefining the meaning of playing stadiums in the round. For the elegant circular design—complete with surrounding immense production towers—Metallica’s longtime Creative Director/Production Designer, Dan Braun, Lighting Designer Rob Koenig, and Video Director/Designer, Gene McAuliffe have gone big while paradoxically creating an intimate stadium environment that perfectly showcase the iconic hard rockers. This ProProduction session at NAMM is the opportunity to ask the team about the design touchstones that are core to a Metallica show as well as learn about the evolution of the Snake Pit over the years.
Be sure not to miss this inside look at the latest incarnation of the iconic Snake Pit as well as the evolution of Metallica’s tour designs. This free session is open to all NAMM Show attendees. Register today for the NAMM Show at https://www.namm.org/thenammshow/registration
