The Howell Binkley Fellowship Program, part of the Hemsley Lighting Programs, proudly announces its Fellow for the 2022-23 season, Samantha (Sam) Weiser (she/her). Weiser hails from Long Island, NY where she was exposed to theatre at a young age. Her passion for lighting design led her to the Long Island High School for the Arts and then to receive her BFA from the University of Michigan in 2020. Her favorite part of designing is turning “what if’s” into reality.
Weiser is excited to begin absorbing all aspects of theatrical lighting at the professional level. She is very familiar with Howell’s work and was especially impacted by Come From Away. Weiser is currently based in New York City and views this fellowship as her opportunity to become part of the professional design community.
PLSN and Stage Directions joins the Hemsley Lighting Programs in congratulating Weiser as she takes the next step in her career. They feel very fortunate to have her as the 2nd Fellow in the program that honors the life and legacy of Lighting Designer, Howell Binkley. They know Howell would have been delighted to meet her and help shape her career.
