LOS ANGELES – ADJ is pleased to announce the immediate availability of its highly anticipated new Hydro Beam X1 moving head beam luminaire. The second model to join the company’s Hydro Series of IP65-rated movers, the X1 is a compact and punchy beam fixture designed to generate dazzling aerial effects.

More details from ADJ on this product (www.adj.com/hydro-beam-x1):

The unit is powered by a 100W Osram Sirius HRI discharge lamp with a 9000K color temperature and CRI of 60. It offers an impressive 6000 hour typical lifespan and makes for a relatively low overall power draw of just 199W @ 120V (192W @ 220V). Despite this, the efficient lamp combined with specially-designed optics allows the fixture to create an extremely potent output. With a tight aperture of just 3-degrees, it generates a razor sharp beam capable of extremely long throws and chunky midair effects. At 5m the fixture’s output measures at an impressive 310,200 lux, while out at 20m it still clocks in at a remarkable 19,387 lux.

Offering lighting designers lots of creative potential, the Hydro Beam X1 packs a whole host of beam shaping tools into its compact body. It has a dedicated color wheel that features twelve vibrant options as well as a CTB color correction filter and UV option. In addition, the unit has a separate GOBO wheel loaded with 11 metal patterns – all specifically designed for creating aerial effects – as well as 4 GOBO reducers allowing for extremely tight pinpoint beams.

A 16-facet prism, offering bi-directional variable speed rotation, allows the splitting of the beam into a circular pattern of multiple shafts of light for the creation of wider mid-air effects. Meanwhile, the fixture is also fitted with an independent frost filter that can be used to switch the unit’s output to a soft-edged wash if required.

Pan and tilt ranges of 540-degrees and 270-degrees, respectively, allow the beam wide freedom of movement. Meanwhile, micro-stepping motors offering 16-bit fine pan and tilt control ensure that positioning is accurate and movements are smooth. The unit’s versatile feature set is rounded out by 0-100% dimming and a mechanical shutter offering variable speed pulse and strobe effects.

The fixture is equipped with a large OLED display that allows for simple and intuitive manual DMX addressing and mode selection, however it is also compatible with the RDM protocol so can also be addressed remotely using a compatible control system. A choice of two DMX modes mean that the unit can be controlled by either 11 or 14 channels and it is fitted with professional 5-pin DMX input and output sockets. The Hydro Beam X1 is also equipped with a WiFLY EXR DMX receiver, which means that it can be controlled wirelessly using ADJ’s WiFLY control protocol.

A tough, all-metal case design means that the Hydro Beam X1 is ideal for professional touring, rental and installation applications. With compact dimensions of just 13.25” x 10.25” x 18.05” / 336 x 260 x 458mm and a weight of 36lbs. / 16.3kg, it is also ideal for situations where a small but powerful beam fixture is required. The unit is fitted with professional caliber locking Seetronic power input and output sockets, which allow the power supply for multiple fixtures to be linked together.

The Hydro Beam X1 features robust construction and an IP65-rating which means that it is ‘dust tight’ and protected from ‘jetting water’. In practice this means that the unit can be used outdoors – even in rainy, sandy or dusty conditions – either for one-off events or permanent installation. It also means that, even if the fixture is used indoors, its optics are protected from dust, dirt and humidity, resulting in an extended operational life and reduced maintenance requirement. All of the fixture’s input and output connections are also IP65-rated and fitted with protective rubber covers for when they are not in use.

The larger Hydro Beam X2 unit, which was released earlier this year. Harnessing the power of a potent Osram Sirius HRI 370W LL discharge lamp, the X2 model is the flagship of the range, offering an enhanced feature set and an incredibly powerful beam. The series will also soon be further expanded with the addition of the Hydro Wash X7 moving head wash, a versatile fixture featuring 7 x Osram 40W RGBW 4-in-1 LEDs and a motorized zoom function with a range of 6 ~ 40-degrees.

“Here at ADJ we are very excited about the new Hydro Series, as we feel that it fills a unique niche offering high-quality, reliable, feature-rich IP65-rated moving heads to the broad mid-market of the entertainment lighting industry,” says ADJ USA’s National Sales Manager, Alfred Gonzales. “And it’s clear that lighting professionals agree, as the response to the Hydro Beam X2 – which has been out in the market for a few months now – truly has been incredible. Well-established ADJ users and new customers alike have been impressed by everything it has to offer. So now we are very excited to be able to debut it’s compact companion in the Hydro Series, the Hydro Beam X1. This small and agile fixture still packs an impressive punch, generating tight, vibrant beams that are ideal for concert stages and nightclubs both indoors and outside.”

The ADJ Hydro Beam X1 is available now from ADJ USA, and will be shipping soon from ADJ Europe.
