Steve Thomas, 67, died March 11, after a courageous battle with cancer. Thomas was a long-time live event professional whose career included worldwide tours as site coordinator/tour production with artists including Pink Floyd, Genesis, Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Counting Crows, and George Strait.
His work also included years as production coordinator for Super Bowl Halftime shows plus he worked the Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and the opening of the Super Dome in 1975. In 1992, Steve brought Belgium-based staging company, Stageco, to the U.S. helping to establishing them here. In 2002, he was part of the production team for the 9/11 One Year Memorial. An avid deep-sea fisherman, in 2005, he created, directed, and produced what became the Cajun Canyons Billfish Classic, an annual offshore fishing tournament in Venice, LA. Steve was a graduate of Louisiana State University and a lifelong fan of the LSU Tigers football team.
He was known for his distinctive voice and for never forgetting a face or a name. He was a generous mentor to any who wanted to succeed in our business. He is survived by his wife Misti Magee Thomas, and stepchildren Morgan, Jordan, and Jackson Miley.
