Kris Nutting, a 20+ year employee at BMI Supply, passed away on January 31, 2024 after a brief illness. Born on April 17, 1972, Nutting was 52 years old. Nutting served as the Lighting Project Manager in the Installations Department, completing innumerable projects for colleges, universities, high schools, theatres, and event venues across New York State and the Northeast USA. He was an experienced technician for a wide variety of manufacturers’ gear, most notably Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC), for whom he had been a factory-trained tech for over 25 years. Nutting earned both the ETCP Electrician and ETCP Theatrical Rigging certifications during his years at BMI Supply.
Notable projects during Nutting’s tenure include The Palace Theater (Albany, NY), Proctor’s Theater, (Schenectady, NY), C.O.O.L. Insurance Arena (Glens Falls, NY), Double H Ranch (Lake Luzerne, NY), The Baseball Hall of Fame (Cooperstown, NY), The NYS Senate Chambers (Albany, NY), among others. Nutting was an extraordinarily kind and considerate person that cared deeply for his work. Nutting will be sorely missed by his colleagues at BMI Supply, and across the technical theatre community in New York State.
