The Rady Shell Invests in a Follow-Me Followspot System

San Diego Symphony’s The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, which opened in the summer of 2021, is located on the edge of San Diego Bay. The Rady Shell was looking for a reliable followspot system they could use during the symphony, concerts, and events. Jason Rothberg, Technical Director and Lighting Designer at The Rady Shell understood the unique challenges that his venue faced. Being an outdoor venue, Rothberg knew that a traditional followspot would not be an option. LUMA Projection Arts Festival Shines Anew After One Year Hiatus

September’s seventh annual LUMA Projection Arts Festival in Binghamton, NY wowed tens of thousands of attendees with six original digital art pieces. As with prior festivals, the canvasses for the displays were facades of historic downtown buildings. 2022 Distinguished Achievement Award Winners Announced by USITT

USITT announced the 2022 Distinguished Achievement Award Winners who will be lauded at the 2022 USITT Conference, which is set to take place as an in-person event in Baltimore, MD from March 2-5, 2022. Honorees include Michael Hooker (Sound Design), Terri Purcell (Costume Design), Donyale Werle (Scenic Design), Dick Block (Education), and John McKernon (Lighting Design).

ETC Upgrades Historic Venue for the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra

USA—The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra (MSO) in Milwaukee, WI, needed an upgrade to its stage technology in the newly opened Bradley Symphony Center and Allen-Bradley Hall. The historic building dates back to 1931, when it opened as the Warner Theater. In Memoriam: Bob Johnston, 61

Bob Johnston, a 45-year veteran of the Canadian live production industry and longtime supporter and advocate for the CITT/ICTS, died Dec. 2, 2021 at age 61 after complications from a recent surgery. Johnston was a member of Christie Lites’ sales team in Toronto.

The Black Theatre Coalition and Company on Broadway Announce an Apprenticeship Program

The producers of the long-awaited revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Company which opens this week, is pleased to announce a landmark partnership with Black Theatre Coalition (BTC), an organization dedicated to eradicating racial inequities in the theatre industry, in the creation of a comprehensive paid apprentice program for creative and management professionals pursuing a career in theatre.
