The Theatrical Sound Designers and Composers Association (TSDCA) Announces their Seventh Annual Meeting

The Theatrical Sound Designers and Composers Association (TSDCA) announced their seventh annual membership meeting, being held in person for the first time in three years. On June 25 – 27, 2022, TSDCA will hold three days of public panels and discussions regarding sound design and composition in theater at the Marjorie Barrick Museum Of Art on the campus of University Of Las Vegas – Nevada. All events are free and open to TSDCA members as well as the general public. Norwegian Theatre Invests in ESPRITES

Det Norske Teatret (the Norwegian Theatre) in Oslo houses three stages in its main building in downtown Oslo, plus one more in another venue in the city run by the same team, all of which work on a busy repertory schedule. Together at least 25 original and cutting-edge productions are created annually, in the Norwegian language of Nynorsk, and host some guest works as well. Roshunda Jones-Koumba Receives the 2022 Excellence in Theatre Education Award

The Tony Awards and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) awarded drama teacher Roshunda Jones-Koumba of G. W. Carver Magnet High School in Houston, TX the 2022 Excellence in Theatre Education Award.  Jones-Koumba received her award at the 75th Annual Tony Awards on Sunday, June 12, at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. 2022 Drama Desk Awards Winners Announced

Winners of the 66th Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced on June 8, 2022. Below is a list of the design winners along with the shows. In keeping with the Drama Desk’s mission, the nominators considered shows that opened on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off Broadway during the 2021-2022 New York theater season, that the Drama Desk determined ended as of May 1, 2022. Ingenious Solution for ‘A Column of Fire’ Production in Copenhagen

Copenhagen’s Bellevue Theatre asked Lighting Designer Mark P Jones to create a practical and versatile lighting design to facilitate their recent touring version of A Column of Fire, a musical production based on Ken Follet’s gripping work encapsulating politics, passion, religious divisions, and other 16th century melodrama of that moment. It was initially staged at the theatre in 2019, directed by Mads M Nielsen with the set designed by Benjamin la Cour and lit by Mikael Sylvest. United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829, IATSE Garners 2022 Tony Honor for its Indelible Contribution to the Broadway Community

The American Theatre Wing and the Broadway League announced on May 6 that United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829, IATSE, will receive a 2022 Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theatre. United Scenic Artists (Local USA 829) is the national labor union and creative community of designers, artists, and professionals working across the entertainment industry.

Court Theatre of Chicago to Receive 2022 Regional Theatre Tony Award

The Tony Awards® Administration Committee has announced that based on the recommendation by the American Theatre Critics Association, Court Theatre of Chicago will be the recipient of the 2022 Regional Theatre Tony Award. 2022 NYC Summer Springboard to Design Applications Close May 31

Do you know a student who loves theater but isn’t sure where they fit in? The American Theatre Wing is pleased to partner with Design Action, which officially launched Springboard To Design 2022 – a program that explores the process of theatrical collaboration and the many opportunities and career paths in the field of American theater design for public high school students from historically underrepresented populations in the theater industry.
