This past Broadway season boasted some stunning lighting, scenic, projection and costume design work making the voting for the Tony Awards a tough job. The winners of the 2024 Tony Awards for musical and play designs were announced live at the 77th Annual Tony Awards on Sunday evening.

Lectrosonics, the renowned manufacturer of world class wireless systems for broadcast, film, music, location sound, houses of worship, live sound and theatrical applications, is very pleased to announce the appointment of Gordon Moore as Chairman of the Board of Directors. He retired as President of Lectrosonics in September 2024, after a 35-year career with the company.

Anatomy of the Clocktower Sequence for ‘Back to the Future’ on Broadway

How do you get a DeLorean up to 88mph, strike it with a jolt of lightning and send it ‘Back to the Future’ on a Broadway stage… Set Designer Tim Hatley and Video Designer Finn Ross know how and they are now nominated for a Tony Award for their clever design work. In this anatomy of the clocktower sequence they, along with Lighting Designer Hugh Vanstone, Illusions Designer Chris Fisher, Sound Designer Gareth Owen, and Director John Rando give a detailed explanation of how they collectively make the sequence work to the amazement of theatergoers.

The Theatrical Sound Designers and Composers Association (TSDCA) Announces their Ninth Annual Meeting, to be Held in New York City

The Theatrical Sound Designers and Composers Association (TSDCA) announced their ninth annual membership meeting. On May 18 – 20, 2024, TSDCA will hold three days of public panels and discussions regarding sound design and composition for theatre. The first two days will be held at the Loreto Theater of The Sheen Center for Thought and Culture, and the third day will be held at the Dolby 88 Screening Room.

Jessica Ann Drayton Named the 2024 Fellow with The Howell Binkley Fellowship Program

The Howell Binkley Fellowship Program announces its 2024 Fellow, Jessica Ann Drayton. Drayton is a born-and-raised Georgian freelance lighting designer. She holds a B.F.A. from Wright State University and M.F.A. from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. A true artist at heart, Drayton loves how every production has a life of its own. She’s ecstatic to be joining forces with the Program’s Amanda Zieve and Ryan O’Gara to captivate audiences and gain experience. Drayton is extremely grateful for this opportunity. Stage Managers’ Association Foundation Announces Spring Grants

An arts organization and four individuals have been selected to receive  monetary  grants from the Stage Managers’ Association Foundation (SMAF) in the Foundation’s Spring 2024 grant cycle. A grant has been awarded to the Mosesian Center for the Arts (Watertown, MA), which sought funding to sustain and grow the Stage Manager Training program at Watertown Children’s Theatre.
