USITT Digital Media Symposium 2022 Set for Sept. 8-10 in Conjunction with the LUMA Festival
Join USITT for its second Digital Media Symposium & projection mapping event that will be held in conjunction with the LUMA Festival, America’s premier projection arts festival. For three days from Sept. 8-10, 2022, USITT’s partners from 7thSense, Pixera, Show Sage, ETP Brainhub, and others will take you through three tracks of education, from Concept & Ideas to Design, and Delivery.

The USITT Glerum Rigging Masterclass will take place in Indianapolis, Oct. 24 & 25, 2022 from 9:00 a.m – 5:30 p.m. EDT. This entry-level track is geared toward those needing to reaffirm their knowledge of or build upon their understanding of the basics in counterweight rigging safety and operations.
The USITT Ken Vannice Electrical Workshop is heading to Indianapolis this fall. It will take place on October 24, 2022 at Newfields: A Place for Nature & the Arts – Indianapolis Museum of Art from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. EDT. This Electrical Workshop will be held concurrently with USITT’s Glerum Rigging Masterclass.
When Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts decided to bring a bold new actor-musician interpretation to the Royal Shakespeare Company’s musical adaption of the Stephen King classic Carrie, it was Mountview’s former head of lighting training, Louisa Smurthwaite, who worked with the students to create the visceral, yet retro lighting design. Keen to introduce fixtures that bought an era-reflecting feel to the classic story, yet still introduce the students to the latest lighting technology, Smurthwaite specified the VL5LED Wash luminaires by Vari-Lite, the originator of the modern moving head and a Signify entertainment lighting brand.
