NEW YORK – Thousands turned out despite heavy rain to witness the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting on Nov. 30, 2016. To provide the crowds with a better view of performances, Upstage Video provided six big LED screens. The artist lineup included Tori Kelly, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, The Roots and Anthony Hamilton, Josh Groban, Tony Bennett, Sarah McLachlan, Dolly Parton, Pentatonix, Jordan Smith, Neil Diamond and the Radio City Rockettes.
NASHVILLE – Since 1970, the GMA Dove Awards has honored excellence in the Christian Music industry. At the 47th Annual GMA Dove Awards, event producer and production designer Scott DeVos of DeLux Productions was brought on board to help accentuate that diversity. Wanting LED video to play an integral role in the design, DeVos needed a provider with a myriad of technologies to fill the design, so he reached out to Nashville-based Elite Multimedia. Elite Multimedia supplied him with PixelFLEX LED video walls for the production design.

ARLINGTON, TN. – When the team at Macon Road Baptist Church in Tennessee were planning their new worship and teaching facility, their concept centered on a large and costly stained-glass window and most certainly didn’t involve LED video panels. However, thanks to the input of AV expert Charles Lawing, a last-minute change of plans led to a much more flexible finished project.
CINCINNATI – – The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) chose ArKaos MediaMaster PRO to drive the visual content for its production of Green Day’s American Idiot. MediaMaster PRO was chosen for the ease with which it handled the demanding artistic concept, its speed of mapping and its easy-to-understand processes for editing content and operation. The ArKaos software was supplied by IED, whose Principal Partner, Jeffrey Brown, is also adjunct instructor for Theater/Event Media and Video at CCM.

LOS ANGELES – Visitors to the OUE Skyspace LA outdoor observation deck at the US Bank Tower in downtown Los Angeles get a 54th floor preview with the help of 13 Christie DWU600-G projectors. Soaring over 1,000 feet above the city’s financial district with a panoramic, 360-degree view stretching to the Catalina Islands, the iconic tower, the tallest building west of the Mississippi, also features the famous outdoor Skyslide for the more adventurous.
LONDON – Church House Westminster, a historic and iconic multi-purpose event and conference venue, recently upgraded the AV system for its largest room that can accommodate more than 600 people. By enhancing the AV installation, Church House Westminster aimed to increase its client diversity through the highest quality system. According to Ian Locke, Audio Visual Manager at Church House Westminster, “Our goal was to improve both image size and quality, offer clients 4K projections, varied screen options and flexibility.”
TORONTO — CBC’s newest talk show, “The Goods,” has generated a great deal of buzz since its premier last month — thanks to its stimulating segments and cutting-edge video wall set installed by Advanced. The set is comprised of multiple NEC X555UNV video walls including a 2×8 main wall display, a 1×6 display, and three single displays that are used throughout each broadcast.
SAN FRANCISCO – The much talked about Made by Google press event in San Francisco on October 4th unveiled the Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones and other hardware initiatives developed by the tech giant. The event was produced by Brooklyn-based MAS Events + Design with AV support from WorldStage, who was tasked with providing an AV solution for the venue, which is typically not used as an event space.
DUNHUANG, China — The immersive Chinese theater piece, ‘Encore Dunhuang,’ recently debuted at the first Silk Road Dunhuang International Cultural Expo. The long-awaited show was directed by one of China’s most famous directors, Wang Chaoge, who was the co-director of the opening ceremony at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. The production, staged in The Aqua Blue Theatre in Dunhuang, China, made use of d3 media servers.
