LAIE, Oahu, HI —Taking its first step towards a 4K production future, Brigham Young University-Hawaii (BYU-Hawaii) has purchased four SKUHD4000 ultra high definition (UHD) studio and field cameras from Hitachi Kokusai Electric America Ltd. (Hitachi Kokusai) to provide superior-quality video acquisition for its diverse projects and long-term content archives.

LAS VEGAS – The 17th Annual Latin Grammy Awards show, broadcast live on Univision from T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas Nov. 17, celebrated winners across a broad spectrum of Latin music.  It also presented an abundance of performances on a colorful, media-rich, stage set, supported by five 4x4pro media servers from d3 Technologies. Set designer Jorge Dominguez and creative director of content Bianca Moncada from Darmah Studio teamed with media server programmer/content specification coordinator Laura Frank of Luminous FX to bring the stage looks to life.

Industry Alliance Forms to Promote Standardized Software-Defined Video over Ethernet

AMSTERDAM — With plans for a formal launch at Integrated Systems Europe 2017 in Amsterdam Feb. 7-10, a handful of companies have teamed up to form the SDVoE (Software Defined Video over Ethernet) Alliance. The group will promote a standardized software-defined video over Ethernet platform for interoperable AV-over-IP applications. The group’s members include AptoVision, Aquantia, Christie Digital, Netgear, Sony and ZeeVee.

King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture in Saudi Arabia Stages Grand Opening with d3 Projection Mapping

DHAHRAN, Saudi Arabia — The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has officially inaugurated the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, whose debut was marked by stunning video projection mapping across the streamlined, modernist façade.  Belgium-based Visual Solutions crafted the week-long, nighttime display powered by 52 projectors and six 4x4pro media servers with VFC cards from d3 Technologies. Filmmaster MEA Events, produced the grand opening with technical director, Julien Poncelet, heading the team.  VER supplied all the video equipment and serviced the event on site.

WOODBURY, NY — At James Madison University in Virginia, the vision of the School of Media Arts and Design (SMAD) includes delivering innovative media education programs that integrate traditional concepts, values, and skills with new and evolving technologies. When the university undertook a major upgrade and refresh of the equipment in its television studio last year, it selected ZHD6000 HDTV cameras from Hitachi Kokusai Electric America Ltd. (Hitachi Kokusai) to give students valuable, practical experience.

APG Displays Plays Key Role in Video Upgrade for CNN Shows

ORLANDO — APG Displays played a key role in a video upgrade for CNN’s shows including The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and The Lead with Jake Tapper. The upgrade was completed last year just in time for election season. Key components included 1.2mm and 1.6mm video display technologies from APG Displays, including a 25-foot-wide 1.2mm Leyard LED display, a 108-inch diagonal 1.2mm Leyard LED display and a 30-foot-wide 1.6mm Leyard LED display.
