Hippotizer rocks John Peel Stage for 9th Glastonbury Music Festival

UK – Hippotizer was again the Media Server of choice for the John Peel Stage at the Glastonbury festival. A Hippotizer Karst unit fed the setting’s main upstage LED wall, making it nine years in a row for Green Hippo technology operating under the iconic yellow and blue canopy. Renamed in 2004 in honor of the late disc jockey – it was formerly known as the New Bands Tent – the John Peel Stage has always been home to up and coming artists – now well-established – acts, such as Florence and the Machine, Phoenix and The Killers delivering headline-grabbing performances.

2017 Macroblock LED Display Conference Recap

SHENZEN, – The 2017 Macroblock LED Display Conference gathered the LED display industry leaders and experts at Shenzhen Langham Hotel to share the new industry trend “ Major Breakthrough: Ultra Fine-Pitch Display” on July 19th. The theme emphasized on the industry transformation and new market requirements, applications and challenges. In the opening speech, Macroblock’s chairman Li-Chang Yang mentioned the past three years. From 2014 to 2016, pixel pitch around 3mm is a multitude of applications for fine pitch LED display. Pixel pitch 1.25mm led a new market trend starting from 2017, and it will move forward to less than 1mm in the next two years.

QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA – IKONIX, the Australian audio visual production expert, has supplied an Avolites Ai RX8 media server and two Avolites Miami Dongles, to run 960 gigabytes of content for Queensland’s largest youth performing arts event, Creative Generation (CGEN) – State Schools on Stage 2017. The event, now in its 13th year, was held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in Queensland. GCEN aims to mentor the next generation of performers, providing opportunities for them to work with professional artists.

JOHANNESBURG  – An extraordinary Sci-Fi Portal on the DWR Distribution stand caused more than a stir at the 2017 Mediatech Africa expo held at the Ticket Pro Dome in Johannesburg, where DWR also received a platinum award for their stand. The project was a giant leap and learning curve for DWR’s Dylan Jones who mapped content, supplied by Provisual Media, onto the portal using Hippotizer Media Servers. Hippotizer was also used in DWR’s newly renovated spaceship themed demo room, which formed part of the Mediatech attraction.

(CFDA) is a not-for-profit trade association whose membership consists of more than 500 of America’s foremost womenswear, menswear, jewelry and accessory designers.

LONDON – With the theme “re-cycle, re-use, re-sist”, the Shangri La field at Glastonbury Festival 2017 drew eager crowds to its rubbish-as-refuge model.  A Gas Tower symbolizing a bygone industrial era loomed over the site and served as the epicenter of the digital revolution with support from d3 Technologies. The Gas Tower was the focus of what the festival called “360º of awe-inspiring audio visual action.”  The eight-sided immersive video installation showcased artwork, AV performances, VJs and other musical artists.

1000th Edition of Children’s TV Show in Germany Gets Green Hippo Assist

GERMANY – The 1000th edition of Germany’s hugely popular children’s TV show 1, 2 oder 3 aired in July, and Green Hippo and mo2 design helped ensure it looked suitably impressive. Based on the original US version, which was called Runaround, those in the UK may be familiar with the UK show, which went out in the 70s and 80s under that same original US title. The success of the German show has outstripped that of any of its ‘siblings’ seeing it become a mainstay of German childhood TV watching.

NASHVILLE,– As the largest outdoor theater in Western Alabama with a capacity of 7,470 patrons, the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater is a premier location for arts and entertainment. Originally constructed in 2010, the amphitheater recently underwent a renovation of their video displays to better overcome the challenges associated with an outdoor venue. Needing a brighter and more powerful solution, the technical team worked with The ESB Group to install a modular and completely outdoor-rated video system using FLEXTour 6.9mm LED from Nashville-based PixelFLEX.
