Stone Roses in Harmony with XL Video

MANCHESTER, UK – XL Video supplied 400 square meters of its latest Pixled F-12 LED screen – configured as 12 screens, 10 of which moved – plus cameras, PPU and crew for The Stone Roses homecoming shows at Manchester’s Heaton Park. The three sold-out nights saw 78,000 people per night. Show Director Paul Normandale specified the F-12 screen, which he is also using on Coldplay’s current world tour.

DUBLIN – Popular boyband Westlife capped off their 14-year career with two farewell concerts. XL Video has been with them every step of the way, and the pressure was on as the final June 23 show would also be beamed live to nearly 300 cinemas around the UK, allowing all Westlife fans to enjoy the atmosphere and vibe of an historical moment.

Hippotizers, Digital Insanity at Spider-Man Premiere

LONDON – Crowds of celebrities and fans flocked to London’s Leicester Square for the film premiere of  ‘The Amazing Spider-Man.’ Digital insanity headed up the AV production for the red carpet event, displaying video streams, parts of the trailer, live feeds of the celebrity red carpet walks to the crowd and live Twitter feeds.

ORLANDO – The new Nature Center at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida in Naples opens with Alcorn McBride video, audio and show control. Shawn Sessions, AV/electrical interactives coordinator for Maltbie of Mount Laurel, NJ, installed the Alcorn McBride equipment.

VANCOUVER, BC – Electric Aura Projects set the design in motion for ‘Rick Hansen Celebration 25.’ The May 22 event, aired June 24 on CTV, honored the 25-year achievements of Rick Hansen, a well-known Paralympic athlete. It was in 1985 when Hansen set off in his wheelchair on his Man in Motion World Tour, covering 40,000 kilometers through 34 countries in over 26 months to raise funds for spinal cord research.

BAKU, Azerbaijan — For the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 (ESC), the numbers hint at the magnitude of the production’s need for video support: 1.52 million video LED pixels; 1,380 square meter LED screens; 10 kilometers of fiber optics; 7,270 working hours divvied up among 22 team members; 868 flight cases; 90 tons of equipment; transportation with a Jumbo 747 freighter; 14 Green Hippo media servers; 2,100 meter LED strips; 12 HD projectors; and an estimated 120 million spectators worldwide.

S+H Technical LED Floor is Core of ‘The Cube’

DEVON, UK – S+H Technical Support again supplied its LED Video Floor to television game show, The Cube. The floor of The Cube becomes a volatile and unpredictable physical boundary with which contestants have to deal and overcome while they perform the tasks. The Video Floor uses three RGB LEDs positioned next to each other to populate the LED PCBs – as opposed to SMD boards – which produces a specific quality of pixel suited to the gaming video content displayed on the floor.

WorldStage, Nicki Minaj Help Launch Smart Phone in Times Square

NEW YORK – Times Square came to a standstill as thousands of fans turned out to watch Nicki Minaj perform live and celebrate the launch of a Nokia smartphone in North America. WorldStage provided audio and lighting support for the top-secret project, which was difficult to keep under wraps while trying to work at night in the busy Times Square.
