Roger Waters Wraps Three-Year Tour; XL Video Provided Visual Support

LONDON — XL Video was one of the principal worldwide technical production suppliers to Roger Waters’ “The Wall Live” world tour, which finally wrapped in Paris Sept. 21 with a sold out Stade de France show, three years and one week after the marathon tour’s opening show in Toronto in 2010. The tour included 219 shows, sold 4.1 million tickets and became third highest grossing tour of all time, trailing only U2’s 360 and The Rolling Stones’ A Bigger Bang.

Beacon Theater Tribute to Édith Piaf Includes Upstage Video LED Wall

NEW YORK — Diminutive in stature — she was only 4’8” — Édith Piaf rose from the streets to become a giant in French popular music from 1935 until her death in 1963. The organizers of the annual Francofolies music festivals honored the legacy of the legendary singer, known by a stage name that translates to “sparrow,” with a big production at the Beacon Theater here that included a 25-by-58-foot 8mm LED wall from Upstage Video.

Texas Motor Speedway Plans Biggest Video Screen Yet

FORT WORTH, TX — They say everything’s bigger in Texas, and the state’s sporting venues keep proving it with the size of their video screens. Even the mammoth screen within Cowboys Stadium will be dwarfed when “Big Hoss,” the nickname for the 208-by-94.5-foot, 108-ton HD (1080p) from Panasonic rises over the backstretch of Texas Motor Speedway for the 2014 racing season. GoVision, on hand to support TMS’ big screen’s press event, had some additional news of its own — the debut of GoVision’s 5mm LED tiles.

London VJ’s DVI Mixer Gets Assist from TV One Scaler

ERLANGER, KY — TV One noted that it had given London-based live events staging artist Toby Harris an assist with his *spark d-fuser, a DVI mixer designed for live events. The *spark d-fuser, which is able to crossfade media from laptops, tablets and HDMI cameras, gets an assist from TV One’s 1T-C2-750 Dual-PIP DVI-I scaler.

For the Sirius XM-sponsored side stage, Boots and Hearts Festival organizers provided a PixelFlex LED Curtain as a backdrop.

BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, Canada — The Boots and Hearts Music Festival drew thousands this summer with a roster of country headliners including Jason Aldean, The Band Perry, Rascal Flatts, Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert. For the event’s Sirius XM-sponsored side stage, festival organizers provided a PixelFlex LED Curtain as a backdrop. It was used for both static and video images during the course of the event, which was held Aug. 1-4, 2013.

DALLAS — Barco teamed up with Niles Creative Group to present a 360-degree video experience at the George W. Bush Museum and Library here. The installation includes the latest version of Barco LiveDots’ high-resolution C5 LED display. The 160’ x 21’ high-res display features work by media artist David Niles of Niles Creative Group.

AV Gear Helps Oregon Museum Reel In Visitors

HOOD RIVER, OR — The History Museum of Hood River County recently opened a gallery devoted to Luhr Jensen & Sons, the manufacturer of fishing gear that operated in the vicinity for nearly 75 years before it was acquired by Finland-based Rapala VMC Corp. in 2005. Media Matrix Productions used gear from Alcorn McBride to lure visitors with motion sensor-launched video presentations.
