Lincoln College Museum Gets AV Upgrade Support from Alcorn McBride

LINCOLN, IL – Lincoln College’s Lincoln Heritage Museum underwent a comprehensive upgrade with AV support from Alcorn McBride. Eidson Studios handled the AV design and installation, working with Taylor Studios, the exhibit design, fabrication and lighting firm for the entire project.

With FiberPlex’s WDM-8 active wave division multiplexer, massAV can multiplex eight discrete signals at 3 Gb/s each for transporting video, audio, lighting and control feeds onto one fiber pair.

I-X Center Contracts with Nanolumens for 22 Indoor LED Displays

CLEVELAND — Cleveland’s International Exposition Center, also known as the I-X Center, has contracted with NanoLumens to provide NanoWrap and fixed NanoSlim indoor LED signage. Karen Robinson, NanoLumens executive vice president of business development, made the announcement. The installation of the 22 indoor LED displays, ranging from a 30’ x 17’ flat screen to 8’ x 8’ wrap screens, is set to be complete by April 1, 2014.

BROOKLYN, NY — There’s only a judicious amount of character flying in Julie Taymor’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the first production to be staged in the compact but versatile Polonsky Shakespeare Center, which opened here last fall, and, as Taymor wryly noted in an interview in The New York Times, the odds of production snags arising from hastily updated scripts were even less remote. Even so, the production, with set design by Es Devlin, had its own unique challenges and complexities. WorldStage provided a video assist.

BIRMINGHAM, U.K. — For the Live Action Arena portion of the 2014 Autosport International exhibition at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre, XL Video returned with the 90-meter-wide projection that debuted with the January 2013 event. The moving backgrounds were made up from a six-way blend of six stacks of two Barco projectors — six Barco HDF-W26s with six Barco FLM HD20s as hot backups.

NEW YORK — Event organizers PPW are bringing Super Bowl XLVIII fever from New Jersey’s Meadowlands to downtown Manhattan on the evenings just prior to the Big Game on Feb. 2. The section of Broadway running from 34th to 47th streets, which includes Times Square, has been designated Super Bowl Boulevard. Moment Factory is providing an assist with large-format projection on the façade of Macy’s flagship retail location. Their eight-minute shows, pictured here in rehearsals, will be seen every half hour from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. between Jan. 29 and Feb. 1.

Sporting Event in Goa, India Opens with Projections from Christie Gear

GOA, India — The Lusophony Games, which run from Jan. 18-29, 2014, featured an opening ceremony with projection-mapped visuals from 40 Christie Roadster S+20K, Roadster S+22K-J and Roadster HD20K-J 3-chip DLP projectors. The Games, staged once every three or four years and centered on completion among populations or countries with a link to Portugal, were previously held in Macao, China (2006) and Lisbon, Portugal (2009).

OCEAN CITY, MD – The United Methodist Church’s Young People’s Ministries of the Peninsula-Delaware Conference rocked the Roland E. Powell Convention Center here Jan. 10-12 with a youth rally featuring vibrant video and lighting effects. Mid-South Audio provided the visual centerpiece for the 4,000 attendees with an assist from 44 of Chauvet Professional’s Nexus COB LED panels and 60 MVP Ta8 curved video panels.
