WorldStage Provides Gear for NBC’s Revamped Tonight Show, Late Night Studios

NEW YORKThe Tonight Show got a new Manhattan address as well a new man behind the desk earlier this year. To prepare for the show’s cross-county move to New York, LD Fred Bock created a new look in NBC’s upgraded Studio 6B in Rockefeller Center.  WorldStage supported Bock’s design with an extensive studio and band lighting package, and also handled the sale and rental lighting packages for the new Late Night with Seth Meyers in NBC’s Studio 8G.

Dream Theater Brings PixelFLEX Along for the Ride

NASHVILLE — Dream Theater, which kicked off the North American leg of their “Along for the Ride” tour with a March 20 show in Toronto, is using 20mm FLEXCurtain LED displays from PixelFLEX to add to the show’s visual impact. (The band’s April 5 show at The Chicago Theatre is pictured here.) PixelFLEX notes that Dream Theater’s trek is also the company’s first big splash on the international touring scene. Steve Angello EDM Concert Uses 38-by-20-Foot MVP 12 LED Video Wall

MIAMI – To help DJ Steve Angello, formerly with Swedish House Mafia, turn an abandoned RC Cola plant into a one-night EDM playground pulsing with color and sound, Design Oasis provided a 38 by 20 foot (WxH) wall of MVP 12 LED video panels from Chauvet Professional. Angello’s #Decade concert, staged on March 27, coincided with Miami Music Week.

NEW ORLEANS — Production designer Paul Normandale specified XL Video-supplied Radiant MC-18 Hybrid LED screen for the 74 by 38 foot (WxH) stage backdrop Kings of Leon’s Mechanical Bull tour, which had an extended run of North American shows that will wrap up at the Smoothie King Center here April 11. The tour marked the first time the LED video gear was used in the U.S.

LMG Wins AV Contract at OCCC for Fourth Term

Sagebrush Community Church Installs 100 Elation EPV762 Video Panels

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — For a new worship center that is part of  Sagebrush Community Church, based here, church leaders turned to VAST Technologies, Inc. for a high resolution LED video screen. Stephen MacAurther, VAST lighting systems designer and engineer, steered the church toward Elation EPV762 video panels. The 100 panels are set up as two 50-panel walls, each measuring 10 by 5 feet (WxH).

NEW YORK — For Rocky, the Broadway musical, video designer Dan Scully and video programmer Ben Keightly used a d3 4U v. 2.5 media server from d3 Technologies to help transform the theatre into a boxing ring and tell the story of the underdog boxer who narrowly loses the big fight but wins love and self-respect.

MIAMI — Design Oasis supported a concert featuring Julio Iglesias on Feb. 22 at the American Airlines Arena here, providing 190 PVP S5 panels from Chauvet Professional. The panels, which formed a 31 by 16.4 foot wall, were programmed by Scott Chmielewski of DMD s7udios and reinforced the connection between the artist and his audience.

LONDON — For a concert Feb. 21 at Wembley Arena for Taiwanese alt rockers Mayday, Live Nation turned to XL Video for video production that included a 24 by 5.4 meter high main screen comprised Pixled FX-12 along with 240 tiles of Pixled FX-11 for three additional screens flown on a mid truss, all measuring 8 tiles wide and 10 high. For I-Mag relay, two 16-by-9-foot side screens were rigged left and right of the stage, each fed by a pair of Barco FLM 22K projectors.

Cleveland Film Festival Gets Big AV Assist from CSR

CLEVELAND, OH — CSR (Colortone Staging & Rentals), a provider of AV rental services, gave a big visual assist to the 38th annual Cleveland International Film Festival, or CIFF, which was held at Tower City Cinemas here from March 19 through March 30. CSR provided a full-resolution 2k digital projection control room that routed all 186 films and 168 short films to their proper locations during the event.

LONDON — Chris Amos, the manager of Manbar, based here, was looking for a cost-efficient LED screen for the nightclub’s DJ booth. He happened upon the Emto website and contacted Wes Matthews from the Buckinghamshire UK based LED specialist. Matthews recommended Emto’s Mambo 8 LED screen.

PORTSMOUTH, U.K. — For a corporate event staged by loyalty solutions provider Affinion International, producer Sounds Commercial deployed S+H Technical Support’s new Glux 3.9 mm hi definition LED screen. The event’s technical production was designed by Sounds Commercial’s Head of Production Design, Matt Willsteed. The  company, headquartered in Bristol, owns a large amount of equipment and rents in specialist elements as required for specific projects.
