Palm Expo 2014 Features Projection Mapping Display using Christie Projectors

MUMBAI – Showcasing a live demonstration of projection mapping, Christie and its partners, Modern Stage Service, Video Design and Audio Design, presented a combination of live choreographed dancing and projection mapping. Utilizing both traditional and stereoscopic projectors to achieve an augmented theatrical setting, eye-catching visuals were mapped on multiple surfaces and a projected dome structure using the Christie Roadster HD10K-M, Christie Roadster HD20K-J 3-chip DLP projectors and Christie G Series 1-chip DLP projectors.

Christie’s Book Of Transformations Celebrates And Explores Projection Mapping Work From Around World

CYPRESS, Calif. – Christie has published The Book of Transformations – a “coffee table” style book that explores and celebrates how artists and technicians are using powerful projection display technologies to visually transform familiar structures and objects. The tablet version of The Book of Transformations includes images, embedded video and detailed narratives of how various structures and surfaces were mapped, recreated in software, and then given entirely new appearances using powerful projected light. The Book of Transformations also traces the history of the art form, provides an extensive primer on how projects are conceived and executed, and looks at the future of the technology and medium.

3D AV Presentation Marks 700th Anniversary of Scotland’s Battle of Bannockburn

STIRLING, Scotland — In the lead up to the 700th anniversary of Scotland’s Battle of Bannockburn, a new visitor center at the historic site in Stirling has become the first in the world to use fight choreography and motion capture techniques to immerse visitors in a realistic 3D medieval battle. The complex projection system was designed by Electrosonic’s Design Consulting team and engineered and installed by Electrosonic’s Edinburgh office under sub-contract to lead design consultancy Bright White Ltd.

SYDNEY — Vivid Sydney is brightening Australia’s biggest city as the weather cools and days grow short with outdoor light installations and projections from May 23 to June 9. Technical Direction Company (TDC) is providing 50 Barco projectors, ranging from the 40K HDQ-2K40 to 22K HDF-W26 and FLM-R22+ units. LONDON — XL Video is again providing full video production – including projection, LED screens, media server control and full camera / PPU package – to an Arcade Fire tour, in this case, the critically acclaimed “Reflektor” world tour. Set and visuals have been carefully sculpted by show designer Richard Stembridge.

Tech director Jerod Chambers, who credited the unit for its functionality, power and ease of use, noted that while the church is “relocating the Spyder from our current church and upgrading everything else around it.”

NASHVILLE — Gary Allan’s “Set You Free” tour is traveling with a custom PixelFLEX panel system that fits into a single trailer. Eight custom pieces were designed for the national, year-long tour. One-by-four foot strips of FLEXCurtain were wrapped around frames built by Accurate Staging, and each of these “pods” also house a moving light.

LONDON — Franz Ferdinand (the band) has been touring in support of their album, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, since early March. Mark O’Herlihy and PRG Nocturne have been supporting the shows in London and Europe, complementing LD Cormac Jackson’s visual design and also providing thoughts, words and deeds (and working video gear) to support production manager Bob O’Brien’s efforts.
