Projection Studio Gets The Christmas Party Started in Barry

BARRY, UK – Described as “The best Christmas light switch-on in Wales”, residents in Barry, the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, enjoyed a specially commissioned visual spectacle created by London based The Projection Studio across the front of the municipal library building in King Square in a Christmas light switch on ceremony that would rival that of most metropolises.

MG 3D Laser Theater at Moody Gardens Using Christie Projection System

GALVESTON, TX – D3D Cinema and Moody Gardens announced that the MG 3D Laser Theater at Moody Gardens is the first institution in the world to feature a giant screen 6-Primary (6P) laser projection system. The setup includes Christie’s 6P laser-illuminated 4K-resolution 3D dual projector system, used to light up the venue’s 60 by 80-foot projection screen with imagery that’s nearly 3.5 times brighter than the current industry standard. The system also includes new 3D glasses technology using 6P eyewear designed and manufactured by Infitec GmbH. The 1.4 gain premium white screen was provided by MDI.

XL Video at 25th Anniversary of the Fall of the Wall

BERLIN, Germany – More than one million visitors came to the German capital on the weekend of Nov. 9 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the fall of the wall in Berlin. One of the many highlights of the events planned to celebrate this occasion was the festival held at the Brandenburg Gate. Here the focal point – besides stars such as Udo Lindenberg, Peter Gabriel, Clueso and the Fantastischen Vier – was a gigantic LED video wall from XL Video.

NASA Headquarters Adds Vista Systems’ Spyder to Auditorium

WASHINGTON DC — NASA headquarters has upgraded its main auditorium with a Vista Systems Spyder image processor. Spyder gives the auditorium eight inputs so it can source from DVD players, Blu-ray players, NASA TV feeds and multiple laptops and display their images on the screen.

MTV EMA Awards in Scotland Gets XL Video Support

GLASGOW, U.K. – For the 2014 MTV EMA Awards, held at the 13,000-capacty SSE Hydro Arena Nov. 9, production designers Florian Wieder and Matthias Kublik from Wieder Design turned to XL Video for LED screens and projection. The host for this year’s awards program was Nicki Minaj.

Video Production at Dove Awards Centers on PixelFlex FLEXCurve LED Tiles

NASHVILLE, TN – The 45th Annual Dove Awards, recently held in Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University, utilized the PixelFLEX FLEXCurve LED tile as the backbone to all video production. With 46 categories, the award ceremony was hosted by Bart Millard of MercyMe and Lecrae. There were a number of performers from the vast family of christian and gospel music genre including the Newsboys, Natalie Grant, Hezekiah Walker, King and Country, Erica Campbell, Pat Boone, Mercy Me and Mandisa among many others.

LONDON — When one of New Zealand’s finest bands, Fat Freddy’s Drop, confirmed their headlining show at London’s Alexandra Palace, they contacted XL Video to supply live video production for the sold-out one-off gig. The show, in support of the band’s third album Blackbird,’ rounds-off a successful year of UK shows, with a one-off at Village Underground in June, and a UK tour in October.

NanoLumens Helps Provide Wounded Veteran with HDTV

ATLANTA – NanoLumens CEO Rick Cope, a military veteran himself, led a company initiative to equip a wounded veteran’s home with HDTV.  NanoLumens donated three LED HD displays for a new home for wounded veteran Mike Schlitz, which was formally dedicated on Oct. 1. The new home, in Columbus, GA, was provided through the Gary Sinise Foundation.

John Newman Performs in U.K. with XL Video Support

LONDON – For a half-dozen recent performances in the U.K. and Ireland in late October featuring UK-based singer and musician John Newman, lighting and visuals designer Dan Robinson worked with an assist from XL Video. The video production company provided ROE MC-18T 18mm LED screens and a MacBook Pro running Catalyst. The MacBook Pro sat next to Robinson and his lighting console at FOH position during the tour.
