NEW CASTLE, DE — Aspiring magicians are invited onstage to show their tricks and fool the magician-comedian duo Penn & Teller in a new series on the CW Network, “Penn & Teller: Fool Us.” Video equipment rental company Pete’s Big TVs played a part in the magic, providing LED video panels, projectors and crew. The 13-episode season, taped in the Penn & Teller Theatre at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, airs Monday nights at 8/7 Central Time.

BUDAPEST – On June 20, 2015, the City of Karlsruhe kicked off a 15-week long summer festival to celebrate its 300th anniversary, with the Karlsruhe Palace playing a central role. Dancers and opera performers entertained a crowd of 40,000 before the evening was concluded by fireworks. Maxin10sity provided a 15 minute-long projection mapping performance for the event.

SAN DIEGO, CA – One of the many memorable features of Comic-Con 2015 at the San Diego Convention Center July 9-12, 2015, was the return of the Full Dome Meatwad Experience presented by Adult Swim. DPS Inc. created the projection mapping within a 360-degree projection dome styled as the Meatwad character from the animated series, Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

NASHVILLE, TN– Working with production company Variable and design studio Meptik, the industry-leading lightweight, flexible PixelFLEX FLEXCurtain was selected for an application beyond traditional video use in a commercial for the National Geographic Channel.

GERMANY – Engineering and automation specialist WIcreations designed and built the six moving video pods which are the major structural element of the current Herbert Grönemeyer tour, which features another innovative and interesting stage design by Gunther Hecker of Cue Design.

PILTON, U.K. – Green Hippo’s Hippotizer V4 made its debut at the Glastonbury Festival this year. For the production on the John Peel Stage, Hippotizer V4 drove video on nine vertical columns of LED supplied by Vortex Hire.

U.K. – Continuing its work on ‘Pointless’, the game show created by Remarkable Television, part of the Endemol Shine Group, XL Video has created a new version of the show’s LED scoreboard.

EUROPE – British electronica trio Years and Years are touring summer festivals and venues with a custom LED strip screen mapped by an Avolites Ai Infinity EX8 server. 

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Dramatic kabuki drape and sniffer created by Sew What? Inc., as well as Dave Grohl’s Epic Throne, showcased during Foo Fighters 20th Anniversary Blowout tour.

LONDON – When the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden recently staged “Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny,” software and media servers from d3 Technologies played a key role in the complex video mapping required for the new English-language production by John Fulljames.

MILAN, Italy — As part of the ongoing Expo Milan 2015, Immersive, a London-based design firm, worked with sculptor Daniel Libeskind to provide LED screens that are embedded within his curved architectural steel sculptures. The result? Animated narrative art.
