Faber AV Uses Analog Way Gear for Guus Meuwis’ Stadium Shows

EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands — Guus Meeuwis’ “Groots met een zachte G” concert has been taking place every year at the Philips Stadium in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the event this year, the artist performed five concerts in the stadium. Each concert was sold out with 35,000 attendees per show. The last one was also broadcast live on Dutch television. Faber AV used two Analog Way’s Ascender 48 multi-screen seamless switchers for the video production.

BHUBANESWAR, India — The Indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) commissioned a 35-minute projection mapping show involving the dome of the Dhauli Peace Pagoda. The light show, which started in August, plays nightly at 7:00 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. The show was conceptualized and is presented by Christie India’s partner Tricolor India Schauspiel, using four Christie Roadster S+22K-J 3DLP projectors.

WALLERN, Austria – Tobias Stumpfl, CEO at AV Stumpfl GmbH, outlined how the company has expanded the breadth of its Austria-made AV systems for an expanding international customer base. The company now offers curved screens for any virtual environment including 360-degree immersive installations, multi-panel screens for training environments and Fullwhite screens (in curved/non-curved configurations) that are designed to take the projected image right to the very edge.

WEST MIDLANDS, U.K. – Central Presentations Ltd (CPL) has made its first purchases in a major new round of investment in Panasonic laser projectors. A fleet of 24 new projectors will comprise 12 each of two models, the PT-RZ670 single chip 6500 lumen and the PT-RZ 12K 3-chip 12000 lumen machines.

Empire State Building Projections Bring Attention to Endangered Species

NEW YORK — A large-format, projection-mapping display measuring 375 by 186 feet (HxW) displayed endangered species on the Empire State Building from 9 p.m. to midnight on Aug. 1. Obscura Digital’s Travis Threlkel worked with photographer Louie Psihoyos, who is also executive director of the Oceanic Preservation Society, on the project. The looping reel featured manta rays, birds, reptiles, lions, and even a gorilla that “climbed” to the top of the building. It was powered by 26 Christie Roadster HD20K-J and 12 Christie Roadster S+22K-J projectors provided by Nationwide Video.

CULVER CITY, CA – FujiFilm’s 4K Day, staged at the Digital Motion Picture Center (DMPC) in Culver City, CA on Aug. 13, drew a capacity crowd, with attendees eager to discover what makes a 4K lens truly 4K.

MORRISON, CO Jeremy Lechterman and Jackson Gallagher from FragmentNine created the video design for alt-J’s tour in support of the band’s second album, This Is All Yours. The band’s North American tour legs, interspersed with performances in Europe, were slated for April, July, Sept. and Oct. 2015. XL Video provided gear suited for use at different venues, included adaptations for a July performance at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver.

JAKARTA, Indonesia — Cinema 21 Group, a long-term partner of Barco in Indonesia, has equipped its auditorium with Barco’s 6P Flagship Laser cinema projector for large screens (DP4K-60L). EDINBURGH – The latest AniMotion live painting, digital art and music show is being presented by Aurora Nova at George Herriot’s School as part of the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The power of original painting created in real-time and projected onto architecture accompanied by live music is a collaboration between projection artist Ross Ashton, percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie and visual artist and painter Maria Rud.
