Starlite Works with Artist on Papal Visit Projection

PHILADELPHIA — Starlite Productions and local artist, Meg Saligman, teamed up on a projection project that incorporated the architectural features of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia.  They projected video content onto the Cathedral’s aqua oxidized-copper dome in late September, during Pope Francis’ visit to the city. The imagery was also on display during Philadelphia’s big World Meeting of Families events.

Upstage Video deployed a total of 31 LED screens in Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA All around the Philadelphia area, organizations prepared for the largest and most historic event of the decade, The World Meeting of Families. One person, Pope Francis, took the stage in front of one million people to talk about faith, hope and prayer. Attendees gathered along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and surrounding areas that extended from City Hall to The Philadelphia Art Museum.

PARIS, France – Paris-based multimedia design collective, Danny Rose has won Silver in the Live Event VFX & Animation category at the AEAF Awards 2015 for their multimedia content created for Mechanized Color Assemblage, a work of project light art seen during Vivid Sydney earlier this year. Mechanized Color Assemblage was created in conjunction with Australian artist, Rebecca Baumann to transform the façade of the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia into a series of color and sound machines.

ENCINITAS, CA – To support the live production and live streaming needs of the 11th annual Switchfoot Bro-Am fundraiser at Moonlight Beach, Austin, TX-based TourGigs used Blackmagic products, including ATEM 1 M/E Production Studio 4K switchers. TourGigs worked with broadcast journalism students from nearby Carlsbad High School to run the production of the event, which drew a crowd of 20,000 attendees and was streamed to 75,000 more viewers.

NEW YORK – This summer a large group of event technology followers gathered at Metropolitan Pavilion to eat Papaya King hot dogs and learn about the latest 4K display technology. Presented by WorldStage, the hands-on work session illustrated the different levels of image quality achieved by comparing HD projection to 4K projection. New projectors from Christie were used for the event.
