CANNES, France – Christie and Microsoft brought mixed-reality technologies to the beachfront in Cannes, France for the Microsoft Beach Club during the 2015 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Visitors to the Microsoft Beach Club experienced the latest in projection mapping collaborations via two customized projects using Microsoft Kinect technology and Christie projectors and software.

ATHENS, Greece – 360 Event Agency turned to Austria-based AV Stumpfl for a four-by-30-meter Curve screen recently. It was used for presentations at an international conference of a Fortune 500 client’s major event in Athens, attended by 500 participants from 28 countries.
NEW DELHI, India – For the opening ceremony at the 3rd India-Africa Forum Summit, held Oct. 26-29 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex in New Delhi, Modern Stage Service used 30 Christie Roadster HD20K-J 3DLP projectors. An additional six projectors were on hand for backup.
SEATTLE – Video technician John Cocci has invested in a second UDC button panel event controller from High Resolution Systems (HRS) to use for live corporate shows. Cocci added the UDC-400 to his equipment inventory, which already features a UDC-210 he purchased earlier. He has provided video support for the producers of corporate events for Google, Cisco, Microsoft, Boeing, Starbucks, Burger King, Discovery Network and others.
OSLO, Norway – A pixel wall designed by ÅF Lighting and controlled by ETC Unison Mosaic has been attracting crowds and winning plaudits from media since it opened earlier this year. Mellbye Arkitektur Interiør AS also chose ETC Source Four lighting fixtures for the project. Geir Sire served as LD.
EXETER, U.K. – Bristol, U.K.-based Fineline Lighting is supplying LED screens and supports for the Rugby World Cup fan zone in Northernhay Gardens in Exeter city center.
LONDON – The roof of London’s O2 became a massive projection-mapped canvas for Projection Artworks’ rose-themed send-off for the England Rugby Team. d3, which had also been involved in last summer’s immense projection on the Hoover Dam, played a key role in the visuals, with roses “blooming” in synch to mezzo soprano Laura Wright’s performance of “Jerusalem” from atop The O2.
BLACKPOOL, UK – The annual Blackpool Illuminations Lights Festival, an idea that was first launched in 1879, now runs as a 66-day tradition as the autumn winds cool the seaside town. It runs this year from Sept. 4-Nov. 8. It’s also home to a new tradition, the first annually-recurring projection mapped show.
