LEDVision Expands Inventory in South Africa with ROE Visual PB3 Screen Panels

JOHANNESBURG – LEDVision, a full-service LED rental provider, recently took delivery of 105sqm of ROE Visual PB3 screen product, with an HD pixel pitch of 3.9mm. Known as Black Pearl, these panels are powered by Tessera LED processing from Brompton Technology, controlled via Tessera management software. Along with a built-in scaler and de-interlacer, users can benefit from real-time adjustment of position, rotation, color, brightness of panels and high-spec video performance with 3G-SDI input. AUSTIN, TX – LD and event designer Sohail E. Najafi used FLEXCurve 8mm curved LED video panels from PixelFLEX to transform Austin’s Scoot Inn for Cleft Clips, which was setting the stage for Funny or Die, the Emmy-winning comedy video website and film/TV production company founded by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy. The Funny or Die Junction event took place during SXSW in mid-March.

LAS VEGAS – Dataton will display Watchout 6 and other products at InfoComm 16, booth N547. The booth will feature a projection-mapped WATCHOUT show on a landscape of sculpted mountains and LED panels. That’s fifty-five LED panels, six large venue projectors, and audio – all running under WATCHOUT 6. External control from WATCHNET.

WorldStage provided projection designer Wendall Harrington with Christie projectors and a Dataton WATCHOUT playback system.

Carnegie Hall Marks 125 Years with WorldStage AV Assist

NEW YORK – To mark 125 years, Carnegie Hall welcomed a long roster of talented artists to perform, including Renee Fleming, Isabel Leonard, Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman, Lang Lang, Emanuel Ax, Michael Feinstein and James Taylor, with Richard Gere serving as MC.  WorldStage provided the projection and lighting packages for the evening. The event featured visuals designed by Wendall Harrington (projection) and Alan Adelman (lighting).

SYDNEY – Technical Direction Company (TDC) worked with creative communications agency Spark44 Sydney and multimedia designers/animators Spinifex Group on a projection mapping and LED installation starring Jaguar’s new F-PACE SUV at Sydney’s Martin Place. The project reflected Jaguar’s support for Vivid Sydney 2016. After pushing a large “Start” button, the multimedia experience begins, presenting the vehicle on an angled podium against a diamond-shaped LED video wall. The vehicle itself comes alive with a video projection that deconstructs, rotates, recontextualises and generally manipulates the Jaguar SUV’s geometry.

Projection Backdrop for Glass Bottle Company in South Africa Makes Use of the Company’s Products

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa  – Digital design agency INJOZI worked with Gearhouse Group on an idea for their Consol Glass campaign for Grey Advertising Johannesburg. The brief was to create a projection surface using the client’s product, in this case glass bottles. The result (pictured here) was used as a backdrop for a variety of performance scenarios. The campaign incorporated a video shoot as well as various activations around the country, so the surface needed to be able display patterns and text effectively as well as be assembled and dissembled quickly and safely for touring purposes.

LONDON – Dostoevsky’s classic novel, Crime and Punishment, recently made its debut as a rock opera at the Moscow Musical Theatre with innovative staging by renowned director Andrei Konchalovsky.  Technical partner Polymedia integrated CAST BlackTrax real-time motion tracking system with a d3 media server.  Together they accomplish 6D video mapping on the show’s scenic elements.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Sets, Drapes, Screen (SDS) took delivery of an additional 14 AV Stumpfl screens (a mixture of the manufacturer-patented FullWhite borderless screens and wide-format screens), this May.  The new stock will be evenly deployed between the Cape Town and Johannesburg branches to ensure a mirrored stock holding in both centers. The busy set company has also invested in the same make of borderless screens tailor-made for the Cape Town International Convention Centre, where sister Company INHOUSE Venue Technical Management is the venue’s in-house supplier. SDS has also increased their Gerriets screen stock with a range of screens.
