WAYNE, N.J.,– Bell Media, one of Canada’s premier multimedia companies, produced a live-to-air UHD broadcast of the iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards (MMVAs) in downtown Toronto in June, with an extensive set up that included a 4K OB truck from Dome Productions. Along with the 4K truck from Dome, the outdoor event employed two audio mobile trucks from Broadcast Audio Services (BAS) and LiveWire Remote Recorders, an on-site broadcast control room and two audio mixing rooms.

LONDON– It was an event of Olympian proportions.  In the run up to the Summer Olympics in Rio, Virgin Media’s new “Be The Fastest” campaign from Curb Media celebrates speed and the fastest man of all time, Usain Bolt.  How better to demonstrate Bolt’s blazing speed than with a 100-meter-long horizontal LED screen, floating on the Thames at the foot of the London Eye? A d3 Technologies 4x4pro media server running r13 software played a key role in the event.

WOODBURY, NY, — For Water of Life Community Church, video has long been an essential component in bringing its message to local congregants and followers around the world. When the non-denominational church recently expanded with a new facility and state-of-the-art technical equipment, they chose Z‑HD5000 HDTV cameras from Hitachi Kokusai Electric America Ltd. (Hitachi Kokusai) to provide the high-quality image acquisition they wanted to underpin their video initiatives.

RIO – The Olympic Opening Ceremony at Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil kicked off the Games of the XXXI Olympiad. It is the first time that the World’s most watched sporting event is hosted in South America with a record number of countries participating in a record number of sports. NBC Olympics, a division of the NBC Sports Group, has selected NEP Group to provide mobile broadcasting and engineering consulting for its production.

JEFFERSONVILLE, IN — Every Friday throughout the summer, the city of Jeffersonville, IN hosts a free concert on a floating music venue, the RiverStage. This unique floating performance space is a barge moored on the banks of the Ohio river near the city’s downtown area. For the 2016 season, Sounds Unlimited Productions upgraded the visuals with 45 ADJ AV6 LED video panels and six ADJ Vizi Hybrid 16RX fixtures. The video panels add to the live music performances, and they are also used for advertising messages for sponsors between performances.

FORT MYERS, FL – Creative Sound and Lighting Solutions of Cape Coral, FL gave an AV boost to Cypress Lake United Methodist Church by adding to their current Eiki projection equipment. The church has two new Eiki LC-HDT700 HD Widescreen Projectors.

LOUISVILLE, KY— Held annually at the Galt House Hotel’s Grand Ballroom on on the eve of the Kentucky Derby, Unbridled Eve is a black tie-optional event which offers live performances along with a VIP cocktail reception and dinner. The 2016 event featured performances by Robin Thicke, John Elefante, Dennis DeYoung, JD Shelburne and Wynonna Judd.

CHICAGO  – NanoLumens worked with DIRTT Environmental Solutions on its Green Learning Center (GLC) in Chicago, which now features the first NanoSlim Engage 1.8mm ‘digital wallpaper’ display embedded into a DIRTT-designed wall.

WROCLAW, Poland  – Wroclaw, Poland continues to celebrate its role as one of the European Capitals of Culture for 2016 with Spanish Night with Carmen – Zarzuela Show at the Wroclaw Stadium.  The spectacle featured fragments of Bizet’s iconic opera, Carmen, presented in the tradition of the Spanish popular opera. Carmen was performed by about 500 artists, including an orchestra, ballet, choir and Wroclaw Opera soloists plus vocal and dance groups from other parts of Poland. 

BEAVERTON, OR — Biamp Systems held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new Cascade Building in Tigard, OR on July 27. The Cascade Building, which is home to Biamp’s manufacturing and customer support teams, joins the Gemini Building and together serve as the company’s headquarters. Although based in a different town, the two buildings are less than one mile apart. Tigard’s Mayor John L. Cook (pictured here) and others were on hand to weild the big scissors and make the buiding’s grand opening official.

BRISTOL, TN — The “Colossus” video display, suspended by cables attached to four giant, purpose-built towers outside the stadium at Bristol Motor Speedway, is being called the world’s largest outdoor center-hung video display. Each of the four panels on the display measure 30 by 63 feet (HxW), and each is comprised of 240 digiLED Toura6 6mm LED panels (24 x 10, WxH). Along with digLED, GoVision and Panasonic were involved in this project. The display will also feature prominently in the Battle of Bristol, which is expected to set a record as the biggest college football game ever when the University of Tennessee/Knoxville faces off against Virginia Tech on Sept. 10. Some 150,000 spectators are expected to attend.

LAKELAND, FL – Taking center stage inside the Lakeland Center, the 2016 Miss Florida Scholarship Pageant showcased 48 contestants all vying for the opportunity to compete for the coveted title of Miss America. Held in conjunction with the Miss Florida Outstanding Teen Pageant, production designer Trenton Dick was once again working behind the scenes at Miss Florida, and was asked this year to build upon the previous pageant’s LED video design. So with an expanded budget and some increased expectations, Dick decided to create three LED video walls for the event using FLEXLite Plus 6.9mm and FLEXCurtain HD 12.5mm LED video technology from Nashville-based PixelFLEX.
