ORLANDO, FL – LA-based PaintScaping brought its expertise in large-scale 3D projection mapping to the new Calvin Harris and Rihanna music video, “This is What You Came For.” Partnering with content creator Baked FX, PaintScaping mapped a set piece in the shape of an open white cube with graphics and live-action imagery.
NASHVILLE – For David Nail’s “Night’s on Fire” tour in support of his fourth album, Fighter, LD Gordon Droitcour with Cour Design turned to Elite Multimedia to supply a rig that included Clay Paky Sharpys, Elation CuePix and Chauvet COLORdash fixtures.
LOS ANGELES – In a convention packed with game titles highlighting combat, warfare and action sports, ABZU’s booth at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016 (E3) was a sea of calm. The blue-toned booth, in the lobby of the West Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center, had a sublime underwater aesthetic. At the forefront, a tower of transparent Blackbird 55 displays, provided by WorldStage, captured visitors’ attention with its underwater imagery.

NEW CASTLE, DE – Pete’s Big TVs (PBTV) got the outdoor summer fun off to a big start in New York City at the kick off concert of Samsung’s Live @ 837 series. Having opened Samsung 837 this past spring, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. surprised the neighborhood with an early summer street concert featuring Gwen Stefani and Diplo. PBTV mounted LED screens on the façade of the building and awning and topped the performance stage with a LED dance floor.
SAN DIEGO – The 2016 Major League Baseball FanFest was held July 8-12 in conjunction with MLB’s All Star Game at Petco Park, home of the MLB San Diego Padres. Held within the San Diego Convention Center, the 2016 FanFest event was overseen by BaAM Productions. BaAM turned to MSI Productions tech director Tom Bollard, who used FLEXLite Plus 3.9mm LED video technology from Nashville-based PixelFLEX to create an immersive LED video entrance for the five-day event.
INGOLSTADT, Germany — Maxin10sity, a projection mapping design firm based in Budapest, Hungary, recently completed two major projects for Audi to mark the launch of their newest models. Commissioned by technical planning and show direction specialist Niyu, Maxin10sity used projection mapping techniques for Audi’s Late Light Show – an event for Audi employees and the community surrounding the company’s Ingolstadt, Germany headquarters. The show ran every evening over six days from May 25-30.
SINGAPORE – More than 55,000 attended Singapore’s 51st birthday celebrations at Singapore’s National Stadium on Aug. 9, 2016. The elaborate projection mapping performances were planned and executed by Christie’s rental staging partner Hexogon Solution Pte Ltd. Hexogon used 66 Christie Boxer 4K30 3DLP projectors for what is being called the biggest real-time tracking 3D projection mapping show ever staged.
HELOTES, TX – Production company ON Event Services (OES) of Atlanta recently utilized 16 ImageCue servers in Washington D.C. for a long-time client. The event was staged as “Mission Control” with a 15’ x 45’ (4.5m x 13.7m) main video screen using four blended HD projectors, six smaller screens with 7K projectors, and fourteen presenter booths each with a 70” flat panel display. Each booth had its own unique Presenter logo video loop, and was switched to play the opening and closing overall event videos.
BAKERSFIELD, CA — The Bridge Bible Church in Bakersfield, California, has plans for its future. The 12-year-old house of worship, whose sanctuary today accommodates 1,200 worshippers at a time – a total of 2,500 weekly across three Sunday services, is considering adding a satellite location sometime in the next year or two, which will necessitate the acquisition and integration of video cameras and I-Mag projection, something they don’t need currently thanks to an architectural design whose curved balcony makes for a pleasantly intimate worship space.
The Tony’s Awards celebrate the best of theatre performance with an annual live broadcast television show from the Beacon Theatre in New York city. Viewed by millions, the show combines live performed excerpts from popular Broadway shows with the pomp and circumstance of a red-carpet award ceremony. Driving all of these video walls were four Hippotizer V4 Taiga media servers.
