LAS VEGAS – Station Casinos, which had previously enhanced its sports books at two other properties with NanoLumens screens in Las Vegas, is adding the company’s screens to a third resort in the valley. The screens will now beckon visitors to sports books at Red Rock Resort, Green Valley Ranch and Santa Fe Station. The latter installation was the most recent, taking place just in time for the start of preseason NFL football.

WOOSTER, OH — For churches around the globe, video has become an integral aspect of connecting with their congregants, providing a powerful medium to share their message while enabling them to expand beyond their walls. When 75-year-old Grace Church of Wooster, Ohio launched its first video initiatives last year, it selected Z-HD5000 HDTV cameras from Hitachi Kokusai Electric America Ltd. (Hitachi Kokusai) to capture live services and events.

HERMOSA BEACH, CA – Saint Rocke and the City of Hermosa Beach augmented the Hermosa Beach Summer Concert Series this summer, adding a free movie night every Saturday in August to the concerts that take place on Sundays. Stage Drapery manufacturer, Sew What? Inc. and its sister company, Rent What? Inc. also expanded their involvement in the event, crafting the new projection screen along with the regular staging elements for the free events.

EDINBURGH, Scotland – For the last 11 years  spectacular large format projections that have graced Edinburgh Castle creating a dramatic and dynamic backdrop for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo season. They have just become  brighter with a new video projection system specified by digital artist Ross Ashton from The Projection Studio. The 12 Panasonic PT-DW17K2 projectors have been purchased by the Tattoo and are running for the first time during the 2016 program.

CINCINNATI, OH – The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra once again brought classical sound, light, and excitement to The Queen City. “Lumenocity 2016: Re-Imagine” took place at CSO’s temporary home at the historic Taft Theatre. Making its debut three years ago, 2016 marked the first time the event was held indoors. Lightborne, the local creative content collective and sponsor, and Okulus, the U.K.-based show designers, called on MooTV to map their vision to the Art Deco architecture within the 85-year-old structure.

NASHVILLE – For the McDonald’s 365 Black Awards, broadcast on BET, Andrew Logan from the Walton Issacson agency worked with Korey Washington on the looks used for the set and the show. The design includes FLEXCurve 8mm LED from Nashville-based PixelFLEX, supplied by Atlanta Audio Visual.

BIRMINGHAM, U.K. – Event technical production specialist Central Presentations Limited (CPL) has invested in 80 square meters of new ROE Black OnyX 3.4 mm LED screen plus ROE LED strip product … both of which are going directly onto a job in London and will then be available from the west Midlands, UK based company’s rental stock. CPL project manager Simon Haydon explains that this screen was chosen because as a high quality HD indoor product and in keeping with the company’s commitment to stocking premium brands.

BOOM, Belgium – The Tomorrowland festival once again drew top DJs and crowds to Belgium this summer (from July 22-24). It also featured a series of tie-in events, called UNITE festivals, on the second night of the main event in Boom, near Antwerp. The UNITE festivals were staged in Germany, Mexico, India, Japan, Colombia, South Africa and Israel. The UNITE event in Gelsenkirchen, Germany got an AV assist from VPS Media that included gear from Blackmagic Design.

MIAMI – DMDs7udios has been relying upon Avolites Ai media servers to tackle projects ranging from the inside of a DJ-fueled dance party to the outside of a major new museum. The company has deployed Ai S8 and R8 media servers on a number of recent projects that underscore Ai’s power and flexibility. FREMONT, CA – Blackmagic Design today announced the availability of Blackmagic Camera 4.0 Public Beta. This public beta lets customers install and test Blackmagic’s major new camera operating system and user interface for URSA Mini. Blackmagic Camera 4.0 Public Beta is available for download free of charge from the Blackmagic Design website for all Blackmagic URSA Mini customers.

COLUMBUS, OH — On Aug. 11, 2016, Macy’s followed up a previous announcement in late 2015 that it would be shedding 35 to 40 stores with plans to shutter 100 additional locations, or about 15 percent of the remaining 769 retail locations. But in late June, the company also made clear that it was intent upon retooling those that remain, unveiling its “Store of the Future” concept at a Macy’s location in Columbus, OH. Macy’s turned to Gaiam, the yoga and fitness brand, for a design assist, and also introduced Gaiam to Dallas-based Reflect, who has been working with Macy’s for a number of years as their instore digital media partner. Reflect’s Matt Schmitt and Chas Thornhill worked with Gaiam visual merchandising manager Hannah Gilmore on a visual solution that included PixelFLEX’s 3.9mm FLEXLite NXG LED video panels, which are serviceable from front and rear.

LOS ANGELES – At this year’s E3 video game expo, Microsoft unveiled a launch version of its Xbox One S, a more compact version of Xbox One, which will soon be joined by more powerful Xbox One S units. The company also outlined plans for its Project Scorpio consoles, to be launched further down the road. To optimize the visuals for the press briefing at the Los Angeles Convention Center, VER LA supplied four d3 4x4pros to production company Zed Ink.
