Variable, Weatherproof Lighting for Sporting Events: GLP ArenaLED1 Touring Highlights the Love of Soccer

Back on 15 November, the German sporting goods manufacturer Adidas presented the official match ball for UEFA EURO 2024 for the first time. The presentation was followed by a five-day event, which took place directly in front of the Berlin Olympic Stadium. In order to put the new ball into immediate use, a temporary round playing field was created in the middle of a specially raised ‘crater’ – this was used both as part of an official program while at the same time being made accessible to members of the public. PRG Germany acted as general technical service provider for the event and used a total of 48 GLP ArenaLED1 Touring systems to illuminate the playing area, with 12 fixtures mounted on each of four arrays.Read More »Variable, Weatherproof Lighting for Sporting Events: GLP ArenaLED1 Touring Highlights the Love of Soccer

Jeff Croiter Calls on CHAUVET Professional for Sabbath Theatre

Reality dangles precariously on the strings held by the puppeteer. Hidden behind the scenes, this master of illusion exerts an invisible hand to create a world of its own in a small space. It is a world familiar to Mickey Sabbath, an aging, manipulative and sex-obsessed puppeteer, who is the subject of Sabbath’s Theatre, a new play by Ariel Levy and John Turturro, based on the Phillip Roth novel of the same name. Rea Garvey is one of the best-known musicians in Germany and is a guest on the biggest stages and festivals year after year. An arena tour for his new album “Halo” has already been announced for 2024. Prior to this, the likeable Irishman took the opportunity to feel the intimate audience proximity of smaller clubs again with the “Roots” tour – a very special live environment that requires a lot of flexibility on the ground. Chris “Rocketchris” Glatthor, who has accompanied Garvey as a production designer since 2014, was also on board. Rocketchris relied on the Cameo PIXBAR G2, AZOR and ZENIT Series – among others – for the minimalist stage designs.

Ed Warren & CHAUVET Professional Bring Flower Power to The Lottery Winners

It is close to impossible to improve on the power a flower to give rise to warm feelings and good thoughts, but Ed Warren managed to do just that when he lit The Lottery Winners’ recent homecoming show.  The “flowers” that this well-known lighting designer planted on stage at the iconic 02 Apollo Manchester might not have been as  delicately beautiful as the red and yellow blooms that dot nearby Ardwick Green every spring (nor were they anywhere near as fragrant!), but they did inspire the sellout crowd at this show, while also reflecting the freewheeling spirit of the local band, who reach the top of the UK charts for the first time last spring.Read More »Ed Warren & CHAUVET Professional Bring Flower Power to The Lottery Winners

A New Level of Creativity at BlizzCon 2023 with GLP

600 GLP X5 atoms populate 150 ‘tree’ towers in expansive set fabrication

GLP pulled out all the stops for lighting designers Mat Stovall and Manny Treeson when video game developer Blizzard Entertainment’s BlizzCon 2023 was held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Southern California recently. Held for the first time since 2019 (when Covid intervened), Blizzard reconfigured the space so that all four giant halls were requisitioned to give fans early access to the latest updates for all of its landmark games (World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo, and Hearthstone) via themed playable stations. Additionally, the arena was converted into a proscenium stage for hosting keynotes, speaker panels, and trailer drops – as well as the spectacular opening and closing ceremonies, all streamed live to millions around the world.Read More »A New Level of Creativity at BlizzCon 2023 with GLP
