3rd International Drone Show Competition Winners Announced

The 3rd International Drone Show Competition, initiated by SPH Engineering’s Drone Show Software (DSS) team, announced its results. Participants from 31 countries competed for the right to get to the final and become the winner in one of five categories. Applications from drone show operators, event companies, firework enthusiasts, 3D animators, and other professionals involved in the drone show industry were evaluated by an international jury, composed of representatives of the media industry, drone enterprises, creative and design agencies, experienced high-tech entrepreneurs, etc. PLSN Editor, Michael S. Eddy was one of the judges for the 3rd International Drone Show Competition.

Top Tours of 2022

“Billboard” magazine recently ranked tours around the world by total ticket sales from November 2021 through October 2022. The Showtime section within PLSN’s January 2023 issue focuses on the lighting, staging and video production teams and equipment supporting these tours.

Upon completing a string of European performances in July, global pop star Faouzia began preparations for a fall North American tour that saw the Moroccan Canadian singer playing dates across the U.S. and Canada. Regional Winners Announced for PLSN Hometown Hero

The readers of PLSN have spoken and we are pleased to announce the Regional Winners of the PLSN Hometown Heroes who are now the finalists for the Parnelli Hometown Hero – Lighting Company of the Year Award. PLSN readers voted for their choice of the six top regional lighting companies in North America—one for each of five U.S. regions, and a sixth for all of Canada. This narrowed the field from 36 to six regional winners, who will appear on the Parnelli Awards ballot. The ballot goes live Jan. 16, 2023 for the 21st Parnelli Awards voting. The Darkroom Creative Draws on GLP Classics for Walker Hayes’ Arena Tour

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Walker Hayes recently embarked on his first headline arena tour, with the help of The Darkroom Creative (Seth Jackson and Nathan Alves), who were responsible for the stage lighting. Helping them build their set was a bunch of classic but timeless ‘impression’ LED fixtures from GLP – notably around 60 of the compact X4 S LED washlights and X4 Bar 20 battens, agile workhorses which helped make the production budget stretch. A grand opening ceremony left millions dazzled right before the FIFA World Cup 2022 kick-off. 60,000 fans gathered from around the world and millions of viewers tuned into the FIFA Opening Ceremony live from the Al Bayut Stadium in Qatar. Creative Technology Middle East were proud to have delivered the spectacular projection mapping covering the pitch for the impressive opening ceremony along with flown tracking LED screens and rolling stage LED screens for the biggest football opening ceremony of the year. The Opening Ceremony featured massive projection mapping devised by Creative Director Anghela Alo with the content being created by the team from Luke Halls Studio.
